EVANS MILLS, NY – The Evans Mills Raceway Park looks to return to racing form after mother nature took last weekend from most tracks in New York state. This Saturday May 24th at The Mills is the largest race weekend of the spring for the Kinney Drugs Modifieds, the 3rd Annual Zeigler ’67 Memorial Presented by Thomas Trash Service and Excavation in Adams, NY. A Cruise-in car show will be joining the evening inside the midway along with racing from all other EMRP divisions including the Excess Storage Pro Late Models, Christman Fuel Service INEX Legends, Stewart’s Shops Sport Compacts, and Thunderstocks
The Zeigler ’67 began in 2023 as a memorial event to the founding brothers of the Evans Mills Speedway Bob and Dick Zeigler. The Evans Mills Speedway began operations in 1967 after a couple years of construction. The brothers from Boonville, NY would work their day job at the garage and then haul up to Evans Mills to put in some work on the track each day. The Zeigler family helped bring this weekend to fruition by support the race and racers with extra pay and bonus prizes galore. Many businesses from the Boonville area support the event by sponsoring cash prizes as well.
The inaugural Zeigler ’67 was claimed by Kreig Heroth, and the second edition went to Bryan Sherwood.
The Cruise-in car show will begin staging at the chain link gate near the bar and restrooms. People entering their car into the show will receive up to two free general admission passes. The gate will be open from 4:00pm – 5:00pm for cars to receive their ticket(s) and enter the midway to park.
In the first week of action on May 10th, Joe Papin won in modifieds, Chuck Meyer in Pro Late Models, Joel Hall in INEX Legends, Mike Cole in Sport Compacts, and Justin Burns in Thunderstocks.
Pits will open at 3:00pm and the general admission gate will open at 5:00pm.
