OSWEGO, NY (June 15, 2025) – Johnny Bennett took care of business on Saturday night at the Oswego Speedway as he won round one of the 2025 GTR Promotions Miniseries for the Super Stocks.

Eric Kocher and Jeff Whalen brought the 20-cars to the green flag for their 25-lap event. Third place starter Johnny Bennett would waste no-time getting to the top spot, as he would take second from Whalen at the end of the opening circuit. Bennett would use the outside to take over the lead from Kocher on lap two. Jimmy Steffenhagen raced his way in third, with Garrett Zacharias wasting no time getting into the top five. Steffenhagen would take over second place on lap three, as Johnny Bennett started to pull away from the field.

Defending DLM winner Andy Cryan would pass Whalen to take over sixth place on lap five, as Bennett and Steffenhagen pulling away. Zacharias would use the outside in turn one to pass Jason Duke and early race leader Kocher to take over third place on lap eight.

The leaders would encounter lap traffic on lap 10, giving Steffenhagen an opportunity to reel in Bennett. The caution would come out on lap 17 as Jason Duke spun in turn three, erasing Bennett’s lead.

On the restart, Bennett would take off in the lead, as Steffenhagen and Zacharias battled for second place. Bennett would go on to take home the win ahead of Steffenhagen and Zacharias.

“I wanted to ride on the bottom early but the opportunity came to take it to the outside and I wanted to get to the front as quick as I could,” Bennett said in victory lane.

Round two of the 2025 mini-series will take place on Saturday, August 2, as the GTR Promotions Super Stocks will be racing Twin 20’s on the famed Steel Palace oval.

Qualifying races for the Dave London Memorial, the Xtra Money Race for Sportsman Modifieds, and the New York State Compact Championship will be held at numerous tracks in the northeast, including Chemung Speedrome, Evergreen Raceway, Lancaster Motorplex, and more.
