WALL, NJ ~ James Blewett added his name to the list of Wall Stadium Speedway Modified stock car winners Saturday night. After recently turning 17, officials said that he is the third mile paved oval’s youngest Modfied victory as he joined his famous grandfather, John Blewett, Jr., late uncle John Blewett III and father Jimmy Blewett on the Wall Stadium Modified winner’s list.
The young Howell resident jumped to the lead early but had plenty of competition. First he fought off Manahawkin’s Jake Nelke before Jackson’s Steven Reed advanced to second. Three restarts offered up plenty of high speed action as Blewett raced side-by-side with Reed before nailing down the milestone win.
Reed was second at the checker flag while Andrew Krause of Howell was third. Nelke and Tyler Truex of Mayetta were fourth and fifth.
“This is something that I’ve dreamed about since I was a kid running around and playing here,” James, “The Operator,” said. “I have to thank my entire family for this! My grandfather, mom and dad are here and it is like a dream come true!”
Jarred Okerson of Freehold fought off several challenges and late race lapped traffic to in the extra distance 75-lapper for the Factory Stocks. Perhaps Okerson’s biggest challenge came after a lap 34 caution that ruined his big lead. That caution was forced when his son spon in turn four.
Shanon Mongeau of Island Heights came from mid-pack to challenge in the closing laps before finising second, while Manchester’s Scott Riggleman, Brian Osborn of Howell and Bryan O’Shea of Neptune City wrapped up the top five.
TJ Graves of Wall took the lead near half way and went on to win the 25-lapper for the Fast 4 cars. Ian Ashford of Jackson, Cory Carr, Kevin Maher and Frank DeAngelis were second through fifth.
West Milford’s Mike Alcaro won his fourth straight and 54th career Legend Cars feature race in dominant fashion. Chris Gall, Jeff Stephens and Joe Parker were third through fifth.
Former Limited Late Model champ Mike Tillett of Bayville took the lead on lap 16 and win the 25 lap main event over Pat Brown,Greg Gastelu, Brian Doyle, Ray Minieri and Phil Bogdan.
Ryan Tidman won the 30 lap “Lane Family Memorial” for the TQ Midgets. The Doylestown, Pa. resident’s win came in a non-stop main event. Tyler Ferris, Blake Barney, Joe Payne and Tyler Wagner wrapped up the top five.
