Thompson, CT
 — The quiet corner of Connecticut is ready to rumble once again this Wednesday, July 9 with the return of the Outlaw Open Modifieds in the $5,000-to-win Twisted Tea Midsummer 50 Dash for Cash! The NEMA Lites will also join in on the midweek action, alongside Thompson Speedway’s six track championship divisions for another epic Wednesday night!

The Twisted Tea Midsummer 50 will serve as the final test and tune for the Tour-type Modifieds at Thompson Speedway prior to the return of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in less than a month on Wednesday, August 6. Ronnie Williams, Tyler Barry and Matt Swanson are among those looking for another shot at the $5,000 grand prize with Swanson set to pilot the family #89 machine this week. Chris Pasteryak, Max Zachem, Ned Viveiros and Glen Steger are also set to be in attendance while we learned last time that anyone can sneak in at the last minute!

After a rough outing for Jon Puleo last time out, Todd Owen has secured the championship lead in the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds. While Owen is searching for his second win of the season, arch-rival Keith Rocco is looking to make it two-for-two in Wednesday night action under the new 50 lap format.

Both the Late Models and Street Stocks have seen three different winners in as many events this season at Thompson Speedway with the competition expected to be just as tight this time around. Jake ‘The Jet’ Johnson has the Hartwell Motorsports #91CT atop the Late Model standings looking for his first championship at Thompson Speedway while Larry Barnett’s thirty point lead in the Street Stocks has him in his happy place.

Nick Hovey’s second win of the season last time out has given him a strong start to the SK Light Modified season over John O’Sullivan and rookie point leader Austin Goff. A resounding group of Mini Stocks showed up last time out but Dave Trudeau continues to show the way to the championship.

Thompson Speedway is back in action on Wednesday, July 9 with the Twisted Tea Midsummer 50. The Outlaw Open Modifieds are back for their second $5,000-to-win Dash for Cash of the summer season along with the NEMA Lites in a special Wednesday showdown at the Big-T! The Wednesday midweek special will also include the Thompson Speedway track championship divisions for another epic night on the Thompson highbanks with a 6:00pm start.
