(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway returned to weekly racing action with the Late Model division taking center stage with their extra distance Paradiso Insurance Late Model 50 feature event on Friday night, September 5th.  Chris Meyer was the big winner of the night by winning the Paradiso Insurance Late Model 50.  Meyer had the car of Chris Buffone right behind him for roughly the final 35 laps and Buffone actually took the lead from Meyer coming to the white flag, but Meyer was able to retake the lead on the final lap and win the race.  Other winners on the night were Mikey Flynn in the SK Modified® feature, Nickolas Hovey in the SK Light feature, Travis Hydar in the Limited Late Model feature, and Brent Gleason in the Street Stock feature.

In the Paradiso Insurance 50-lap Late Model feature, the caution flew right away at the start as going down the backstretch on the opening lap, the cars of Adon Burrell and Tom Butler touched and spun, which collected several other cars, including Adam Gray, Kevin Gambacorta, and Wayne Coury, Jr.

The restart saw Chris Meyer go 4-wide with Tom Fearn, Alexandra Fearn, and Chris Buffone to take the lead.  Alexandra Fearn came out in second with Buffone third.  Darrell Keane was fourth with Josh Wood fifth as Tom Fearn fell back to sixth in line.

With 10 laps complete the order was still Meyer in front followed by Alexandra Fearn, Buffone, Keane, and Wood.  Tom Fearn was sixth with Michael Wray, Bobby Stirk, III, Paul Varricchio, Jr., and Tom Butler making up the top-10.  Tom Fearn spun in turn 2 to bring the caution flag out with 13 laps complete.

Meyer took the lead back under green with Buffone taking second.  Wood moved up to third while Alexandra Fearn slid back to fourth, just in front of Tom Fearn.  Keane was sixth followed by Al Saunders, Stirk, Varricchio, and Wray.  Buffone was starting to apply heavy pressure to the back bumper of Meyer, but Meyer was able to maintain the lead.

With 20 laps to go it was still Meyer in command with Buffone right behind him looking for a way to make a bid for the lead.  Varricchio was up to third with Alexandra Fearn fourth and Wood fifth.  Keane was sixth followed by Wray, Stirk, Al Saunders, and Tom Fearn.

After riding behind Meyer for roughly 35 laps, Buffone took the lead from Meyer as the two cars came to the white flag.  Meyer came right back to the inside of Buffone on the final lap and he was able to retake the lead going down the backstretch and into turn 3.  Buffone couldn’t get back close enough to Meyer as Meyer took the checkered flag for his second win and the biggest win of the 2025 Late Model season at Stafford.  Varricchio finished third with Alexandra Fearn and Bobby Stirk, III rounding out the top-5.

In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, Tyler Chapman took the early lead at the start with Anthony Flannery emerging from several laps of side by side racing in second.  Todd Owen was wheel to wheel with Michael Gervais, Jr. for third with Mikey Flynn in fifth and Cory DiMatteo in sixth.  Gervais finally took third with Owen fourth and Flynn fifth.  Troy Talman got into the wall in turn on lap-9 but he kept going and the race stayed green.

Flannery was closing down the gap that Tyler Chapman had built up over the opening laps and with 15 laps complete, he was right behind Chapman.  Flynn was up to third with Gervais fourth and DiMatteo fifth.  Alexander Pearl spun coming out of turn 4 to bring the caution flag out with 15 laps complete.

Chapman again took the lead back under green with Flynn taking second.  Flynn powered his way past Chapman on lnap016 to move into the lead.  The caution came back out with 17 laps complete as Pearl, Wesley Prucker, and Steven Chapman all got into the wall coming out of turn 4 with Chapman’s car taking the worst of the damage.

The next restart saw Chapman go back into the lead with Flannery and Flynn going wheel to wheel for second and Jon Puleo and Gervais going wheel to wheel for fourth place.  Flynn won the duel for second and he took the lead back from Chapman on lap-21.  Chapman was second with Flannery taking third, Puleo fourth, and Michael Christopher, Jr. was up to fifth place.

Christopher and Puleo both went by Flannery on lap-25 to move into third and fourth to kick Flannery back to sixth place behind Keith Rocco.  Puleo made a move to the inside of Christopher on lap-29 to move into third.  Christopher came back on lap-33 to take third back from Puleo but Puleo took the spot back from Christopher on the very next lap.  Rocco also got by Christopher to move into fourth and drop Christopher back to fifth as Flynn continued to lead the race with Tyler Chapman giving chase from second.

Flynn led Chapman to the checkered flag to pick up his second win of the 2025 season.  Puleo finished third with Rocco and Christopher rounding out the top-5.

In the 20-lap SK Light feature, Casey Vogt took the early lead at the drop of the green flag with Amanda West and Nickolas Hovey both in hot pursuit as they ran wheel to wheel in second.  Hovey got clear from West on lap-3 and he nearly took the lead from Vogt before falling back into line in second.  Robert Bloxsom, III was up to fourth with Ben Morrison fifth.  Hovey was able to make a pass for the lead stick on lap-5 and he moved to the front of the field.  The caution came out with 6 laps complete as Tyler Barry came to a stop against the wall in the middle of turns 1+2.

Hovey took the lead on the restart with Vogt in second.  Bloxsom and West were wheel to wheel for third with Meghan Fuller fifth.  West took third on lap-8 with Fuller taking fourth to drop Bloxsom back to fifth.  Bloxsom took several looks back to the inside of Fuller before he was able to make a pass stick on lap-12.  The caution came back out with 12 laps complete for a spin in turn 2 by Stephen Kalogiannis.

Hovey again took the lead on the restart with Vogt taking second.  West was third with Bloxsom fourth and West fifth.  Hovey was starting to pull away from the field but the action was fast and furious behind him.  West, Bloxsom, and Vogt were racing hard for second, going 3-wide several different times.  Hovey cruised to the checkered flag to take down his fifth win of the 2025 season with West winning the race for second.  Bloxsom edged out Vogt for third at the line with Fuller coming home in fifth place.

In the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature, the caution flew right after the green flag came out for a spin by RJ Surdell going into turn 1.

Daryl Vertefeuille led the field to the green flag and he took the early lead with Connor Jencik right on his back bumper.  Devon Jencik was third with Rich Hammann fourth and Jason Lafayette fifth.  Devon Jencik made a move to the inside of Connor Jencik on lap-6 to move into second while Vertefeuille continued to hold the lead.  Hammann took third to drop Connor Jencik back ot fourth, just in front of Lafayette.  Lafayette took the fourth position from Connor Jencik on lap-8 with Travis Hydar following him through to take fifth and drop Jencik back to eighth place.  Gary Patnode took a hard hit into the wall coming out of turn 4 to bring the caution flag out with 9 laps complete.

Hydar took the lead again back under green with Lafayette moving up to second.  Cormier was third behind the two leaders with Devon Jencik fourth and RJ Surdell was back up to fifth after his race start spin.  Matt Winter, II spun on the backstretch to bring the caution flag back out with 18 laps complete to set up a green white checkered finish.  Kyle Theriault was parked for the remainder of the race by Stafford officials for making contact with Winter.

Hydar took the lead on the start with Devon Jencik right behind him in second.  Jencik drifted up the track, giving Hydar a small margin out front while Cormier took second, Lafayette third, and Surdell fourth with Jencik falling back into line in fifth place.  Hydar led the field to the line to pick up his third win of the 2025 season.  Cormier finished second with Lafayette, Surdell, and Devon Jencik rounding out the top-5.

In the 20-lap Street Stock feature, Alex Spinnato led the field to the green flag and he would lead the first lap before giving way to Bill Cote, who went 3-wide with David Ciatsko and Marvin Minkler, on lap-2.  With more 3-wide action going on behind Cote, Spinnato spun in turn 2 with Travis Downey also getting collected to bring the caution flag out with 1 lap complete.

Cote took the lead on the restart with Brent Gleason moving into second.  Brandon Warren moved into third with Minkler fourth and Aaron Plemons fifth.  Plemons took fourth from Minkler on lap-4 while up front Gleason took the lead from Cote.  PJ Evans was now fifth behind Gleason, Cote, Warren, and Plemons with 5 laps complete.

Gleason was starting to stretch out his advantage over Cote in second who still had Warren, Plemons, and Evans lined up behind him as the race hit the halfway point of lap-10.

Jason Raymond moved by Evans to take over fifth place on lap-13 while Gleason was still slowly lap by lap stretching out his lead over Cote in second.  Raymond took fourth place from Plemons on lap-14 and immediately began to apply heavy pressure to Warren for third place.  The caution came out with 16 laps complete for a spin in turn 3 by Roger Mahieu.
