Bonus money to be awarded to Legends drivers who race at Evergreen Raceway this season
Butler Township, Pa. 3-8-26) Legends cars have long been a staple at Evergreen Raceway. Matter of fact the scaled down cars that mimic the Modified stock car era of the 1940s and ’50s, made their Pennsylvania debut at the paved 1/3-mile oval in 1993 when they first came onto the racing scene and have since been popular return visitors on the yearly schedule.
In 2026 they are inked for eight shows, primarily all Sunday afternoons and will be running under the East Coast Legends Series banner. And as an incentive put together by racer AJ Wright and His Lucky Fan Racing Team, a bonus of $50 will be awarded to the highest finishing driver at Evergreen who also raced that same weekend be it Friday or Saturday.
“I love Evergreen as a Legends track and it’s definitely a track I want to support so I kind of came up with the idea of putting a little bit of a kicker in and help get the car counts up,” said Wright.
“What we’re doing is putting $50 up to the top finisher that ran the Friday or Saturday before on the same weekend.”
Wright said that he is calling the enticement, “Make It A Double” and each recipient will also receive a custom-made sign designed by Himmer Graphics of Lake Ariel.
He also stated that it does not have to be the same car but rather just so long the driver raced prior, noting that some teams do have cars they run specifically at a particular track including dirt and asphalt.
At the present time aside from the $50 bonus Wright is looking to add additional incentives to the “Make It A Double.”
“This is my way of putting a little bit of an investment with the track,” he said.
In 2025 Chris Sinatro claimed the Evergreen Raceway Legends title.
The Legends cars will be in action on May 3 & 31, June 28, August 2, 16, 30, September 20 and the King of the Green Weekend October 16-18.
Evergreen’s first on track action is slated for Saturday afternoon, April 4 at 1:00 pm featuring a 100-lap/$1000-to-win 4/6-cylinder Enduro Presented by the Wire Guys.
On the following Saturday, April 11 the track will be hosting the Circle Track Racing Experience plus Food Truck Frenzy plus an Everything Swap Meet/Yard Sale running from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. A rain date is in place for the next day, April 12.
Open practice will be taking place on Saturday, April 18 at Little Evergreen Raceway from noon to 4:00 pm along with a Rookie 602 Crate Modified Orientation.
The next day, Sunday, April 19 is set aside as an open practice for all divisions from noon to 4:00 pm and again on Saturday, May 2.
Weekly racing gets under way with Opening Day on Sunday, May 3 beginning at 2:00 pm. On the docket will be the Tour Type Modifieds, Harry’s U-Pull-It Street Stocks, Himmer Graphics Four Cylinders and the Rotten-and-Forgotten.
