  • The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns to New York’s Riverhead Raceway for the 78th time in series
history this Saturday for the running of the Miller Lite Salutes Don Howe 200 starting at 8 p.m. ET on
FloRacing. The event is the fifth race of the 2026 season.
  • Saturday’s event honors Don Howe, a six-time track champion at Riverhead Raceway. Howe won a Figure 8
championship at Riverhead in 1971 and later won five Modified championships across three decades. Howe,
now 74, is expected to compete in the Vintage division on Saturday prior to the NASCAR Whelen Modified
    Tour event.
  • Justin Bonsignore leads all drivers with 12 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour wins at Riverhead Raceway,
followed by Mike Ewanitsko with 11 victories. In 31 career starts at Riverhead, Bonsignore has only finished
outside the top five on five occasions and has an average finish of 4.9.
  • Austin Beers is the most recent NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour winner at Riverhead Raceway following his
victory in the 2025 running of the Eddie Partridge 256. Beers enters Saturday’s event having earned 34
consecutive top 10 finishes dating back to the 2024 season.
  • Speaking of Beers, he is the only driver not named Justin Bonsignore or Ron Silk to win a NASCAR Whelen
Modified Tour race at Riverhead Raceway since the summer of 2022. In that time, Silk has won three times
and Bonsignore has won four times.
  • Stephen Kopcik enters Saturday’s event as the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour points leader. He holds an 11-
point advantage on Austin Beers through four of 16 races on the schedule. Kopcik has a 4.3 average finish
through the opening four races of the year.
  • Austin Beers is the only driver through four events who has finished in the top 10 in each race. Only five drivers
    – Beers, Stephen Kopcik, Patrick Emerling, Jon McKennedy and Tyler Rypkema – have at least three top 10
    finishes so far this year.
  • A strong contingent of local competitors will join the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour field Saturday at
Riverhead Raceway. They include Timmy Solomito, Chris Rogers, Mark Stewart, Chase Grennan, Owen
Grennan, Roger Turbush and Matthew Brode. Chase and Owen Grennan will be making their NASCAR
    Whelen Modified Tour debuts.
  • The last local Riverhead Raceway competitor to win a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event was Kyle Soper,
who bested the series regulars on June 25, 2022. Soper was driving a car owned by 1994 NASCAR Whelen
    Modified Tour champion Wayne Anderson.
