(Stafford Springs, CT)— Stafford Speedway hosted round 2 of the Sign Pro Triple Crown for its SK Modified® division with the 50-lap Call Before You Dig Senator’s Cup on Friday, July 24th. The race served as the second of three legs of the Sign Pro Triple Crown with Troy Talman taking the checkered flag to pick up his second consecutive SK Modified® feature victory of the 2026 season. The Sign Pro Triple Crown will conclude on Aug. 7th with the NAPA SK 5k 100-lap feature event. Other feature winners were Michael Bennett in the Late Model feature, Nick Anglace in the SK Light feature, Kyle Theriault in the Limited Late Model feature, and Kolton Gambacorta in the Street Stock feature.
In the 50-lap CBYD Senator’s Cup SK Modified® feature, the race started with Jon Puleo and Tyler Chapman spinning in turn 2 with Nickolas Hovey coming to a stop to avoid the two cars, which brought the caution flag out before the first lap could be completed.
Troy Talman took the early lead on the start with Todd Owen pulling to the inside of Keith Rocco in a wheel to wheel duel for second. Glen Reen was fourth with Alexander Pearl in fifth. Rocco won the duel with Owen to take second on lap-4 with Owen slotting into fourth behind Reen with Talman still leading. David Flammia, Jr. spun in turn 2 to bring the caution flag out with 8 laps complete.
As the field was coming to the restart, Flammia’s car was spun around at the entrance to turn 3, negating the start and keeping the yellow flag out.
Talman took the lead on the restart with Keith Rocco right behind him in second. Reen and Bryan Narducci were side by side for third with Owen in fifth. Owen got into the back of Narducci which sent Narducci around in turn 4 to bring the caution flag back out with 9 laps complete.
Talman again took the lead with Rocco in second and looking to take the lead as soon as he could. Reen was third with Andrew Molleur fourth and Pearl fifth. Rocco made his move to the inside of Talman on lap-16 and he had the lead by a nose. Talman made a nice crossover move on Rocco and he was back in the lead on the following lap. Reen was still third with Molleur and Pearl making up the top-5 while Talman and Rocco swapped the lead. Curt Brainard spun in turn 2 to bring the caution flag out with 23 laps complete and Talman still leading with Rocco in second.
Talman and Rocco resumed their fight for the lead back under green with Talman in the lead and Rocco in second. A heavy accident in turn 3 erupted with 24 laps complete with Anthony Flannery, Meghan Fuller, and another car getting into the turn 3 wall which collected the car of Josh Zentek, who climbed up and over on its right side before coming back down on all four wheels to bring out the red and yellow flags.
Reen went 3-wide with Talman and Rocco on the restart and he emerged in the lead. Talman was second with Rocco third, Molleur fourth, and Marcello Rufrano was up to fifth. Talman made a move to the inside of Reen on lap-31 and they were in a dead heat as they hit the start/finish line with Rocco right behind them. Talman took the lead on lap-33 with Rocco taking second to drop Reen back to third. Rufrano had gotten round Molleur to take fourth place with Molleur fifth.
With 10 laps to go Talman was leading Rocco, Reen, Rufrano, Molleur, Dylan Izzo, Pearl, Jon Puleo, Narducci, and Ethan Durocher. Talman led Rocco to the checkered flag to pick up his second consecutive of the 2026 season. Reen finished third with Molleur getting around Rufrano for fourth place in the final laps to round out the top-5.
In the 30-lap Late Model feature, the initial start was called back and on the second start attempt Wayne Coury, Jr. didn’t quite come up to speed and Kevin Gambacorta got into the back of Coury and came to a stop in turn 1 to bring the caution flag out with 1 lap complete.
Darrell Keane took the lead on the lap-2 restart with Michael Bennett taking second. Gambacorta restarted at the rear of the field and he made one lap before pulling behind the pit wall, done for the evening. Adam Gray was up to third behind Keane and Bennett with Chris Meyer fourth and Paul Varricchio, Jr. fifth. Josh Wood took fifth place from Varricchio on lap-9 while Keane was still leading Bennett, Gray, and Meyer.
Varricchio came back to the inside of Wood on lap-10 to retake fifth place and his move allowed Chris Buffone to take sixth as Wood slipped back to seventh place. Buffone brought his car down pit road on lap-18 for an unscheduled stop before retiring from the race. Keane held the lead until lap-20 when Bennett took over the lead and his move opened the door for Gray to take second and kick Keane back to third. Meyer would follow Bennett and Gray by Keane one lap later to move into third and drop Keane back to fourth place.
On lap-25, Gray got into the back of Bennett while Meyer got into the back of Gray with all 3 cars getting sideways. Bennett maintained the lead while Keane took advantage of the situation to move back into second with Gray third and Meyer fourth. Keane couldn’t get close enough to Bennett to make a move as Bennett took the checkered flag to pick up his second win of the 2026 season. Keane finished second with Gray, Meyer, and Wood rounding out the top-5.
In the 20-lap SK Light feature, Ben Morrison led the field to the green flag and he took the early lead after racing wheel to wheel with Cassandra Cole for the opening lap. Casey Vogt was third in the early going with Stephen Kalogiannis fourth and Daltin McCarthy fifth. Glenn Bartkowski spun coming out of turn 4 to bring the caution flag out with 4 laps complete.
The restart saw Chad Jones spun into the turn 3 wall with Jake Hines also going around in turn 3 to bring the caution flag out before a lap could be completed.
Vogt went wheel to wheel with Morrison for the lead back under green and he had the lead by a nose to complete lap-5. Vogt got clear into the lead on lap-6 with Morrison slotting into second. Kalogiannis was third with Cole and Nick Anglace going side by side for fourth place. Anglace took fourth on lap-8 and then he took third on lap-10. Anglace continued his charge to the front by taking second from Morrison on lap-13 with Vogt still in the lead.
After several laps of side by side racing with Morrison, Anglace took the lead from Vogt by a nose on lap-16. Anglace got clear into the lead on lap-17 with Vogt, Morrison, Kalogiannis, and Cole all lined up behind him.
Anglace led the field to the checkered flag to pick up his sixth win of the 2026 season. Vogt came home in second with Morrison, Kalogiannis, and Cole rounding out the top-5.
In the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature, Kyle Theriault took the early lead at the start with Norm Root, III taking second behind him. Devon Jencik was third with Duane Provost fourth and Jason Lafayette fifth. Provost’s car dropped off the pace on lap-4 and he fell to the rear of the field as Lafayette moved up to fourth and Conor Jencik fifth.
Adrien Paradis, III took fifth place from Conor Jencik on lap-8 while Lafayette was applying heavy pressure to Devon Jencik for third place but was unable to complete a pass. Lafayette was finally able to make a move to get around Devon Jencik to move up to third place on lap-9 while Theriault was stretching out his lead over Root as the race hit the halfway point.
With 5 laps to go, Lafayette had got around Root to take second behind Theriault with Devon Jencik, Root, and Paradis making up the top-5. Theriault led the field to the checkered flag to pick up his first win of the 2026 season in dominating fashion. Lafayette finished second with Devon Jencik, Root, and Jeremy Lavoie rounding out the top-5.
In the 20-lap Street Stock feature, David Ciastko and Marvin Minkler went door to door for the lead but Garrett Pease got into the backstretch wall on the first lap and came to a stop in turn 4 to bring the caution flag out with 1 lap complete.
It was 3-wide at the front on the restart with Minkler taking the lead, PJ Evans coming up to second, and Brandon Warren third. Minkler’s time out front was short as Evans took the lead on lap-3 with Warren second and Kolton Gambacorta moving into third. Minkler slipped back to eight h place when the caution flew with 4 laps complete for Matt Martel, Roger Mahieu, and Brennan Murdza, who all spun in turn 1.
It was once again 3-wide for the lead on the restart with Gambacorta emerging in the lead with Evans second and Warren third. Warren took second on lap-6 with Ryan Waterman already up to fourth and Tyler Trott was fifth in line. Waterman took third on lap-7 behind Gambacorta and Warren as Evans fell back to fourth place.
At the halfway point of the race, Gambacorta was still the leader with Warren, Waterman, and Trott behind him. Jason Raymond overtook Evans to move into fifth place while Waterman was applying heavy pressure to Warren for second but Warren was able to maintain second place. Waterman made his move for second on lap-14 to drop Warren back to third with Gambacorta still in the lead.
Waterman couldn’t close the gap to Gambacorta as Gambacorta took down his first win of the 2026 season to end Waterman’s six-race winning streak. Warren finished third with Trott and Raymond rounding out the top-5.
