Wall Township, NJ – On a night where Wall Stadium honored its past with a number of legendary drivers in attendance, it was only fitting that one of the all time winningest drivers in Jimmy Blewett went to victory lane for the first time in almost two years during the NASCAR Modified Hall of Fame 100 after starting 13th.
It was the Howell racer’s first win of the season, the 89th Modified win of his career and his first since August 17, 2024. Blewett missed nearly the entire 2025 season after undergoing surgery and recovery for a serious non-racing related illness.
While Blewett was beginning his march to the front, Jarret DiGiantomasso of Jackson jumped to the lead while battling Jonathan Laureigh of Lanoka Harbor and Mayetta’s Tyler Truex. The field shuffled through a handful of early cautions while Jimmy Blewett, Howell’s Blake Barney, Steven Reed and Kyle Scisco, both of Jackson, and others sliced their way to the front.
The top racers battled in tight formation through the half way point with DiGiantomasso, Truex, Jimmy Blewett, Barney and Scisco leading the way. Lap 71 then became a turning point in the race as the top two touched with Jimmy Blewett slipping into the lead. A restart a few laps later saw DiGiantomasso’s great run end as his car tagged the guard rail exiting turn two.
From that point on Jimmy Blewett held his ground with Barney finishing a strong second. Truex, Carsten DiGiantomasso and Scisco wrapped up the top five.
“One year ago I was in the hospital watching the racing here and I really did not know if I would ever race again,” Jimmy Blewett said. “Thanks to all the work of the doctors and support of family and friends I have made it back. This car was great tonight thanks to Bill Cole, Jeff Lane and everyone else involved. Thanks to the car, it was not that hard to get to the front.”
In a race slowed by just one caution that came at the very end, Brian Osborn of Howell raced to his first win of the year in the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stock 25-lapper. Freehold’s Jared Okerson chased him the entire way and often provided heavy pressure before finishing second. Johnny Carpenter, Alex Rogers and Chris Lane were third through fifth.
Lady racer Peyton Arthofer of Northampton, PA. led the Sportsman 25-lapper from start to finish to record her first ever Wall Stadium win. Matt Kovacs chased her until spinning on lap 19. From that point on Howell’s Kevin Davison chased Arthofer to finish second, with Ryan Kuhlthau, Billy Both and Quinn Trimmer rounding out the top five.
Ian Ashford of Jackson raced to his second straight win in the 25 lap Surf Side Collision 4 Cylinder main event after wrestling for the top spot with early leader and eventual runner up Cory Carr. Doug Ashford, Kevin Carr and Eric Mancini finished third through fifth.
Wall Stadium will return to action this Saturday night, August 8. The NASCAR Sportsman cars will be in the spotlight as they compete in Twin 25 lap main events with the ATQMRA TQ Midgets battling in the 30-lap JJ and Ace and John John Lane Memorial. The O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks and Natural Design Co. Legend Cars will also be in action. Qualifying is at 6:00 p.m. with main events starting at 7:30 p.m.
