CLAREMONT, NH – Modified Racing Series star Jacob Perry, the 2022 MRS champion, won the 75-lap main event Sunday night at Claremont Motorsports Park. It was Perry’s second MRS win in as many weeks.
The 25-year-old veteran of 21 years of oval track racing took the lead on lap 26 of the night’s main event and then kept reigning series champ and current MRS point’s leader Brett Meservey safely behind him to score the big win at the Thrasher Road speedplant.
In support division events, Pure Stocker Ben Bushey, as his son Dakota had done only two days earlier, scored his first career victory, Robbie Streeter won for the second time this season in the Super Streets, and 14-year-old Karson Hussey made it two on the weekend, and two on his very young career, in the Ridge Runners.
Hudson speedster Nick Woodside topped the nightcap 50-lap Enduro Sunday.
Former CMP Weekly Racing Series Modified champion Nate Wenzel and MRS series veteran Donnie Lashua shared row one as the night’s main event went green. Wenzel, Matt Kimball, and Perry were earlier heat race winners, but Kimball’s engine grenaded in the pits, dropping the Bennington, NH ace from the starting lineup.
Perry fired from row two on the starting grid, with Meservey close behind in row three, alongside many time CMP champ Brian Robie. With Wenzel blasting off to the early lead, Perry was immediately at his bumper.
Patiently riding in Wenzel’s shadow, Perry picked his spot on lap 26, rocketing low into turn one and taking command. Meservey, up to third early but way behind the leading duo, took full advantage of a lap-50 restart to seize second from Wenzel.
Perry, though, was in a class of one Sunday night, taking the checkers eight lengths ahead of Meservey to duplicate his MRS win of a week earlier at Oxford. Wenzel held strong to nip his many time weekly Monadnock foe TJ Bleau for third. And Stu McCormack raced home fifth.
Sunday’s MRS event was the series’ second and final run of the season at the fast third-mile. Back on June 19, heavy hitters Jon McKennedy and Patrick Emerling earned the top two spots, with Perry finishing fifth in that event.
Previous winner Joe Tetreault exploded into the early lead in Sunday’s RE Hinkley Fuels Super Street feature. He soon had hot shoe Robbie Streeter knocking at his door.
Streeter stayed glued to the lead car’s bumper, looking low at every turn for passing room. He finally found the space he needed on lap 21, beating Tetreault to the stripe by a wheel and then holding strong to earn his second Super Street win of the summer, that along with a bang-up season in the speedway’s Outlaw Late Model division.
With Tetreault strong in second, point’s leader Chris Riendeau – already sending out invitations to his planned first-ever CMP championship party – finished at his bumper in third, Robert Hagar and Ryan Bell were credited with fourth and fifth.
The first place Pure Stock hardware went back to Springfield, VT for the second time in three days Sunday. In fact, the night’s feature race winner was from the same family.
And while Dakota Bushey had celebrated his first career LaValley Building Supply Pure Stock feature win Friday, this time it was dad’s turn, as Ben Bushey scored his first-ever victory on Sunday. Like Dakota, two days earlier, he was perfect on the night, sweeping both his heat and feature races,
Bushey won with ease, taking the checkers seven lengths ahead of previous winner Adrian Smith. Carter Conroy and Gage DIllingham, also previous 2026 feature winners third and fourth, and Jordan Gonyea celebrated his second top-five finish of the weekend.
Green Mountain Boy Konner Janovsky led the first six laps of Sunday’s JP’s Trucking Ridge Runner feature but then Karson Hussey, fresh off his first career win Friday, took over.
Once in front the how’s-this-guy-see-over-the-dashboard rocketman never looked back, making it two in a row on his very young career with Sunday’s ten-length victory.
Faster every time out, Nick Nahodl earned his second trophy of the weekend in second, Lane Lantas was third, Janovsky fourth, and division-leading Trevyr Young fifth.
In the nightcap 50-lap Enduro. Hudson’s Nick Woodside took the top spot from NASCAR LLM regular JD Stockwell on lap 12 and swerved and darted his way through traffic to earn his first CMP win. Speedway Enduro veteran Freddie Rogers finished close in second, and Stockwell was third. Fourth and fifth went to Gary Cuthbertson and Markus O’Neil.
With CMP’s popular three-day 2026 Fall Challenge event still weeks away on October 23-25, the Thrasher Road oval will close out its NASCAR Local Racing Series season next Friday, September 11, with a huge double points for all divisions Championship Night event presented by Casella Waste Systems. Post time is 7 p.m.
