Mason Zeigler Leads 33 Laps for 2nd Butch Renninger Memorial Title, Bruno Dominates USAC Feature, Andrew Yoder Holds on for Limited Late Model Event

Port Royal, PA — The Butch Renninger Memorial headlined the opening of racing at the 172nd annual Juniata County Fair on Saturday night. Mason Zeigler would lead all 33 laps in the Penske Racing Shocks super late model portion of the night and would take home the $7,333 payday.

Hayes Mattern and Zeigler would make up the front row of the main event with Zeigler taking the lead on the opening circuit.

Mattern would ride in the 2nd spot for the entirety of the feature, and he would even reel in and pull alongside Zeigler for the lead near the midway point of the A-main.

Zeigler would prove to be too strong however as whether it was in lapped traffic or in clean air, the 25z machine of Zeigler would be able to hold Mattern at bay to pick up the win, marking his 2nd career Butch Renninger Memorial title of his career.

Mattern would finish in the runner up spot and Justin Weaver would round out the top 3.

Another exciting battle to watch throughout the main event was the 2 cars competing for the 2026 Port Royal Speedway track title in Trever Feathers and Gregg Satterlee.

Throughout the main event, the two cars would not be separated, and in the waning laps of the race, Satterlee would get by Feathers, knotting the two atop of the season point standings.

When the checkered flag waved, the two drivers would finish with Satterlee in 6th and Feathers in 7th, enacting the points tiebreaker which would go the way of Feathers who had recorded more wins (2) than Satterlee (1) in the 2026 season.

The championship would mark the 1st in Feathers career at the Juniata County half-mile.

In USAC East Coast Sprint Car competition, Christian Bruno would crush the field, leading by well over a half-the-track distance from the 2nd and 3rd place running cars, marking his 5th win on a half-mile track with the series this season.

Chris Allen Jr. would finish in 2nd from his 8th starting position and Kenny Miller III would finish in 3rd from 9th.

For the final race of the night, Andrew Yoder would lead from wire to wire, fending off a late race charge from Spike Moore to claim his 3rd Butch Renninger Memorial title in limited late model compeition.

Yoder would start alongside George Dixon Jr. for the 25 lap feature event, getting out to the early lead while Moore, who started in 6th, would get to the runner up position in just 2 laps.

A restart with 2 laps to go would give Moore the chance he would need to make a move for the feature win as he would hang with Yoder on the restart and follow him around the race track coming to the white flag.

On the final set of corners, Moore would peak to the inside of Yoder for the lead, but Yoder, who was running the middle of the corners in turns 3 and 4, would mount enough speed to hold him off and hold on to the win.

Moore win finish in the 2nd spot and DJ Myers would round out the top 3.

Port Royal Speedway will be right back in action on Monday for the running of the 75th Annual Labor Day Classic & Lynn Paxton Tribute Race paying $7,500 for the Weikert’s Livestock 410 Sprint Cars. The race will also be a part of the PA Posse 410 Sprint Car Series schedule.

Also on the card for Monday will be the FWD 4-cylinders and an exhibition from the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.
