Fonda Speedway $12,000-to-win Montgomery County Open Postponed to Sunday, April 24

FONDA, NY – An unexpected change in forecast with showers moving in from the north has prompted a postponement of Fonda Speedway’s Montgomery County Open remembering Jack Johnson.

The event will now run on Sunday, April 24.

A system expected to move north of the speedway took a southward turn, with precipitation expected throughout the evening hours. 

Speedway management has opted to take advantage of a beautiful Sunday forecast to finally get the 2022 season underway at the Track of Champions after a trying spring.

The program will include the following:

·         Sunoco Modifieds with sail panels – 40 laps, $12,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th, $500 to start

·         Swagger Factory Apparel Crate 602 Sportsman

·         Algonkin Motel Pro Stocks

·         Montgomery County Office for Aging Limited Sportsman

·         Fonda Fair Four Cylinders

The Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified portion of Saturday’s event has been postponed to next Saturday, April 30.

For the Sunday event, all gates open at 1 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Racing begins at 5:30 p.m.

Adult admission is $20 (Adults), $18 (Seniors ages 65 and up) and Kids 11 and under are FREE.

Pit admission is $35 (Fonda members) or $40 (non-members). Kids (ages 6-12) pay $10. Children (ages 5 and under) pay $2.

Since 1953, the “Track of Champions” Fonda Speedway has hosted the best in stock car racing. Under the management of BD Motorsports Media LLC, the speedway will operate weekly on Saturday nights from April through August plus several special events. Fonda Speedway is located on the Montgomery County Fairgrounds off New York State Thruway Exit No. 28 at 21 S. Bridge Street Fonda, NY 12068.
