WHITINSVILLE, Mass. – After a few weeks off, Stan Mertz Racing and driver Matt Galko will return to the track on Friday, July 1 at Stafford Motor Speedway. Set to compete in the GAF Roofing 80-lap Open Modified main event, the group is looking for a bid of redemption in the Koopman Lumber No. 6.
In their last race together – at Stafford – Galko was leading the race late when the car ran out of fuel. In their first races of the season together at Stafford, the team was consistently inside the top-10 and led laps. This time, they hope to seal the deal.
“I’m very excited to get back to work with the Stan Mertz Racing team,” Matt Galko said. “We did everything we needed to do to win the last race, and we once again proved we are contenders every time we hit the track. We let one slip last time – and now, everyone on our team is even hungrier. We are more ready than we ever have been before to park the No. 6 car in Victory Lane.”
Friday’s race day schedule for the GAF Roofing Open Modified 80 includes practice in the afternoon and the start of qualifying heats at 6 p.m. The 80-lap feature is scheduled to take the green flag around 9 p.m., live on FloRacing.TV. For those who are in the area, tickets will also be available at the track. The night will begin a doubleheader weekend for Stafford, which will include the return of the SRX Racing Series on Saturday night.
