An exhibition race with 270cc Micro Sprints will be part of the outlaw kart racing card the next time cars hit the track at Mountain Creek Speedway, Sunday, August 28th. With more improvements being made to the track periodically. The time has come to experiment with a new division of cars for the speedway by the creek as track owners and promoters Adam and Rebecca Stewart are looking to the future.
“We’re really looking forward to this exhibition run,” said Adam Stewart. 600 micros are definitely in our future. We are still working, adding steel walls and more barriers but the 270’s are slower with less power which will be great for us dipping our toe in the micro sprint world.” The plan is to run a few exhibition races with the remaining races left on the schedule, then a push to add 270 and 600 Micro sprint racing for the 2023 season. “Right now, we don’t have everything in place for 600’s yet but we’re preparing, said Stewart. “We can run the 270’s right now because of their power to weight ratio and we also want to see how bigger cars will react to the track.”
“It’s the natural progression of the track, said Mountain Creek Speedway PR director, Derek Pernesiglio. This will be the fist step to bringing the track to a new level. We want to give the micro sprint racers another venue to compete without interfering with Millbridge’s already successful racing program.”
The 270 Micro Sprints take to the track Sunday, August 28th. Gates open at 12:30pm with practice starting at 3pm. The track will also be available for testing and practice days throughout the year.
