Thompson, CT — 17 divisions of stock car racing are set to ring in the 60th Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing presented by Budweiser at the world-famous Thompson Speedway from Friday October 7th through Sunday, October 9th. Headlining events include championship-implicating features for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, American-Canadian Tour and Pro All Stars Series along with the $10,000 Sunoco 100 for the Outlaw Open Modifieds and championship finales for the Thompson Speedway local divisions!
Friday, October 7th kick-starts the epic weekend of highbank action at Thompson Speedway. The Modified Racing Series 75 brings Day #1 of Tour-type Modifieds to the 60th Sunoco World Series presented by Budweiser with names like Christopher, Pitkat, Swanson and a litany of others expected to show their strengths on night one. The Tour-type Modified stars will use the Modified Racing Series 75 to prepare themselves for Saturday’s $10,000 to win Sunoco 100 and Sunday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 150.
The championship finale for the Thompson Late Models also highlights Friday’s racing along with the Senior Tour Auto Racers (STAR) for the many nostalgic fans and Round #1 of the Weston’s Automotive Triple Crown Series for the Sunoco Modifieds. Friday will also feature the R&R Race Parts NH Open Street Stock Series as they battle 50 laps for the top $1,000 prize and a special 30-lap Mini Stock Open. Both Open events will pay $1,000 to the respective winner.
Saturday, October 8th features an action-packed afternoon and evening of racing headlined by both of New England’s premier Full Fendered divisions and finishing out with the $10,000 to win Sunoco 100. The Pro All Stars Series and American-Canadian Tour are gunning for 75-lap features on the Thompson 5/8-mile oval plus NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Time Trials for Sunday’s Sunoco World Series 150 presented by Phoenix Communications and the Outlaw Open Modified Sunoco 100. The Sunoco 100 will showcase on day two of the best Tour-type Modified teams in the Northeast as they fight for the $10,000 top prize.
Saturday will also feature the Thompson Mini Stocks as they wrap up their 2022 track championship alongside Round #2 of the Weston’s Automotive Triple Crown Series for the Sunoco Modifieds. The New England Supermodified Series (NESS) is set for a lightning-fast 50 lap main event and the New England Pro-4 Modifieds in their annual Harry Kourafas Memorial Race round out the Saturday program as the fourth different Modified division of the evening.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is back Sunday, October 9th to round out the 60th Sunoco World Series Weekend presented by Budweiser. The Sunoco World Series 150 presented by Phoenix Communications will feature all of the NASCAR Regional Series stars as they battle hard in their penultimate event before the 2022 championship wraps up at Martinsville Speedway on October 27th. Jon McKennedy leads a tied Justin Bonsignore and Ron Silk into Thompson searching for his first championship in NASCAR’s oldest division.
As if the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour isn’t enough, both the Weston’s Automotive Triple Crown champion and Sunoco Modified track champion will be crowned in the final 30 lap sprint of the season. The fan-favorite SK Lite Modifieds and Limited Sportsman will also crown their 2022 track champions alongside special Sunoco World Series presented by Budweiser special events for the NEMA Lites and the EXIT Realty Truck Series.
Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park ends the 2022 season with the 60th Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing presented by Budweiser starting Friday, October 7th through Sunday, October 9th. Highlighted by three-straight days of Tour-type Modified racing including the Modified Racing Series on Friday, the $10,000 to win Thompson Outlaw Open Modified Sunoco 100 on Saturday and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour on Sunday with the Sunoco World Series 150 presented by Phoenix Communications. The 60 Sunoco World Series presented by Budweiser also features the American-Canadian Tour, Pro All Stars Series and the Weston Automotive Triple Crown for the Sunoco Modifieds!
