New York Oval Will Host GSPSS Season Finale During US Open Weekend

LANCASTER, N.Y. – Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) and Lancaster Motorplex officials announced today that the Pro Stocks will help headline the Sunday portion of the US Open weekend at the oval on Sunday, September 24, 2023. The event, scheduled for 100 laps, will also mark the eighth and final on the GSPSS calendar for the 2023 season, where the champion will be crowned.

It will be the first trip to upstate New York for the Granite State Pro Stock Series – a division that has been built around the New England market. Drivers, teams and fans will all be excited to take the trip West to this fast oval – a facility that not only holds oval track racing, but also drag racing. The weekend (September 23-24) is already scheduled to include TQ Midgets, Asphalt Sport Modifieds, Asphalt 4-Cylinders, Asphalt Street Super Stocks and Asphalt Late Models.

The facility will also host a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race again in August of this season.

“We’re excited to head to Lancaster with our teams after a few years of talking and trying to put something together,” Mike Parks, President of the Granite State Pro Stock Series, said. “The track puts on a phenomenal race no matter which divisions are out there, but we are especially excited to see the Pro Stocks get around there at top speed. Our schedule spreads across multiple tracks and Lancaster is a perfect facility for us to crown the 2023 champion.”

The track is equally excited to have the touring series coming to town.

“We are excited that the Granite State Pro Stock Series will be part of US Open Weekend,” Steve Petty, Director of Public and Media Relations and Track Announcer at Lancaster Motorplex, said. “The anticipation of having over 20 Pro Stocks at Lancaster hasn’t been seen at the track, or the region, for quite some time. Having the top drivers on the Granite State circuit race against the best in Western New York will make it a great show and only add to the legacy of what the US Open has become.”

Lancaster Motorplex wishes to thank Speed77 for their support to make it happen.

“Dave Russell and his team have been great marketing partners and supporters of local racing, especially at Lancaster,” Petty continued. “The business supports racers of all classes and can get you the parts you need to be successful on the track. Located just off NYS Thruway at exit 48A, it’s only 20 minutes from the track.”

A full schedule for the race day will be available at a later date.

With the eighth and final race now added, the 2023 Granite State Pro Stock Series schedule is now set. The series will visit Star Speedway three different times, along with two stops at Riverside Speedway, two at Speedway 95, and one at Lancaster.
