Warrior 100, Second Race of SMART Modified Tour Season, Set for Sunday with Three SS Racing Entries

The Sadler-Stanley Racing team will return to the track this Sunday, March 10, for the second race of the SMART Modified Tour season at Caraway Speedway. The Warrior 100, estimated to go green around 3:30 p.m., is the second of 15 events on the busy schedule for the team racing with the SMART Modified Tour in 2024.

The 100-lap race will mark the first start of the season for NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Bobby Labonte in the No. 18, while full-time team drivers Jonathan Cash and Luke Baldwin will also return to competition at Caraway. The Pace-O-Matic drivers are ready to tackle the Sophia, North Carolina, oval.

Labonte won the season-finale of the SMART Modified Tour in 2023 and is excited to get back to work with the group. He will compete in a part-time SMART schedule and also run three NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races for Sadler-Stanley Racing in 2024.

“Last year, we ended on a high note, winning two of the last three SMART races,” Labonte said. “Even though our schedule is a little bit different this year, I’m excited about everything that Hermie, Bill and the Sadler-Stanley Racing team have with PSR Products and the entire group. Hopefully we will pick up where we left off. We have quite a few races together this year and we want to be able to be contenders to win.”

Baldwin is coming off a top-five effort in his Tour-Type Modified debut last weekend at Florence. He was fastest in practice, qualified third, and finished inside the top-five, posting a solid start to his season. Baldwin has been to Caraway before in the 602 Modifieds, but is looking forward to tackling the Tour-Type Modified on Sunday.

“I’m feeling pretty confident going into Caraway this weekend,” Baldwin said. “This is a place that I have experience at, and I believe fits my driving style more. The entire Sadler-Stanley Racing group and I have been testing a couple times there and it’s gone well. I know the guys will bring me a great car, so I am heading into this weekend feeling pretty good about our PSR Products, Pace-O-Matic, Mohawk Northeast, No. 7VA.”

Jonathan Cash opened the season with a finish outside the top-10 at Florence, but the end result wasn’t indicative of the speed the No. 16VA had. He was running inside the top-10 when he had problems and had to pit. Cash is excited to head to Caraway with hopes of rebounding on Sunday.

“Excited to get back to Caraway,” Cash said. “Caraway is a place where we have run multiple times and have a lot more experience compared to some other tracks on the schedule. I’m glad to be back closer to home and look forward to Sunday’s race in the Pace-O-Matic No. 16VA.”

The schedule for Sunday at Caraway includes practice from 12:18-12:58 p.m., followed by Pace-O-Matic qualifying at 1:30 p.m., and the green flag for the Warrior 100 later in the day. There are multiple other divisions racing on Sunday. The event will air live on FloRacing.TV for those who are not able to make it to the track.
