Barre, VT & Naples, ME — Following a chilly start to the season on Icebreaker weekend, Thompson Speedway is ready to rumble on Memorial Day Monday, May 27 for the start of the Dash for Cash series for the Thompson Outlaw Open Modifieds! Joining the mighty modifieds in their 50-lap, $5,000-to-win sprint will be the Sunoco 604 Modifieds, Late Models, AZ Roofing SK Light Modifieds, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks for an action-packed salute to those bravely lost their lives to ensure America’s freedom!
Over $215,000 is up for grabs between the six Dash for Cash 50-lap sprints and the Sunoco 100 on World Series Saturday for the Outlaw Open Modifieds, all beginning on Memorial Day! In the Thompson track championship chase, a season ahead is ready to restart after nearly seven weeks of preparation following the Icebreaker. Ryan Morgan leads the Late Models with defending champion Nick Johnson and Kulwicki Driver Development Program (KDDP) finalist Derek Gluchacki close behind in a talented and competitive field for the 2024 season. The AZ Roofing SK Lights are currently led by Tyler Chapman, as the Ellington-native looks to best his third-place tally in last season’s standings. Youngster Nick Hovey and longtime pilot John O’Sullivan are both tied for second just nine-points back and both will look to best Chapman on Monday.
After a hard charging, rain-dodging win on Icebreaker weekend Al Stone III leads the fan-favorite Street Stock division standings followed close behind by 2023 championship runner-up Ryan Waterman and Aaron Plemons. Waterman, Plemons, Corey Fanning and ‘Leadfoot’ Larry Barnett are certain to dive in for the Memorial Day win and hunt for the Eden Rafferty bonuses!
Defending Mini Stock champion Jared Roy dominated the Icebreaker win after a heartbreaker for 2022 champ Kevin Moore saw him lose considerable power in the closing laps. Moore is among those looking to bounce back, along with fellow hard-luck candidate Dave Trudeau, and find Thompson victory lane once again!
