(Butler Township, PA 9-2-24): Last Saturday evening Evergreen Raceway was all geared up to host their Fan Appreciation Night by offering a reduced front gate admission of just $8. But rain and thunderstorms late in the afternoon and early evening put a damper on things and forced the cancellation of any try at getting the show in.

However, track owner/promoter Jason Makarewicz did not want to let the special night get chalked up to another rain out. Instead he is going forward with the same bargain ticket this Friday, September 6.

Friday’s racing card will consist the 602 Crate Modifieds, Harry’s U-Pull-It Street Stocks, Himmer Graphics Four Cylinders and the Rotten-and-Forgotten. Racing will start at 7:00 pm.

The 602 Crate Modifieds last raced on August 4 and it was a thriller as Steve Shultz beat current point leader Brian Rygielski Jr., and Nick Schaffer in a one lap shootout. The victory was the first for Shultz with the Crate Mod and 37th overall.

The Crate Modified class has been close like that in each feature and Friday looks to be much of the same.

Mike Pollack is riding a high in the Street Stocks with five wins in a row. Rest assured though that the field remains tight and has been making Pollack work for those victories. It will be exciting to see if he can extend the streak or will be bested for the first time since week three.

Four Cylinder point leader BJ Wambold not only padded his standings lead thanks to being the most recent winner, but he was able to carry that momentum with him last Friday evening at Oswego Speedway, winning the prestigious New York State Compact Championship. He’ll now be looking to bring that run of good fortune back to Evergreen this Friday.

And, his daughter, Maggie Wambold, who is a close second in points, also showed well at Oswego with a solid third place tally. But as always this class is loaded with potential winners so expect the level of pressure to be running high when they take to the track on Friday night.

To add to the $8 tag at the main gate is the always competitive Rotten and Forgotten division. To show just how versatile this class is most recent August 11 winner on Tommy Dawson took his Pro Stock and proceeded to win again this past Saturday night on dirt at Clinton County Speedway.

All of the great racing is being presented as part of Fan Appreciation Night and at just an $8 grandstand admission. There will also be $1 hot dogs at the concession stand.

Pit gates will open at 4:30 pm. Pit admission is $40 per person. Warm-ups will begin at 5:30 pm with heats starting at 7:00 pm. Main grandstands open at 5:00. Kids 12 and under are free.

This will be the final evening of racing under the lights, which the speedway held a few times this season at the request of fans and racers. On the dates September 15, 29 and October 6 will be a return to Sunday afternoon programs before turning the focus to the annual King of the Green twin weekends of October 11-12 and 18-19.
