KRAUSE’S WIN CLICHES WALL STADIUM MODIFIED CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY

WALL, NJ ~ Andrew Krause won the final battle and the season long title race war in the 40-lap main event for Modified stock cars Saturday night at Wall Stadium Speedway. The Holmdel speedster enjoyed his six win of the 2024 campaign as he clinched his fourth Modfied crown.

    Jarret DiGiantomasso of Jackson jumped to the lead early as Tommy Martino, Jr. of Red Bank and Howell’s Jimmy Blewett soon ran second and third. Meanwhile, Krause was dicing his way to the front from deep in the pack. By lap 14 Krause advanced to fourth and then slipped into third at the half way point. 

    The major turning point in this race came on lap 24 when DiGiantomasso and Blewett touched in turns three and fourth with DiGiantomasso spinning from the lead and Blewett ducking into the pit area. On the restart Krause was no the leader as he raced on to the win and the driving championship. Martino, Brick’s Eddie McCarthy, Jackson’s Steven Reed and Milltown’s Derek Hopkinson, the point leader going into the test, wrapped up the top five.

    The 25 lap main event for the Factory Stocks came down to a winning pass in the closing laps. Point leader Scott Riggleman of Manchester took the lead at the half way point before the race was slowed for a spinning racer with just two laps remaining. On the restart Shanon Mongeau of Island Heights dove to the inside lane to take the lead and eventual win. Riggleman held on for second to earn his fourth driving crown. Howell’s Johnny Carpenter, Kevin Kennedy of Point Pleasant Beach and Howell’s Bob Anderton completed the top five. Rob Anderton of Howell, a title contender going into the test, was involved in a tangle on the final lap and finished 14th.

    On the strength of a fifth place finish Kevin Davison  of Howell celebrated his fifth Sportsman division driving crown.

    Howell’s James Blewett led early before spinning from the top spot on lap six of the 25-lapper. Rahway’s Billy Both then took up the lead and battled with Jonathan Laureigh of Lanoka Harbor into the closing laps. Laureigh then took over the top spot and raced on to the win. Both, Blewett, title contender Chris Silvestri of Hazlet and Davison were second through fifth.

    Tanner Jones of Glen Gardner raced to victory in the 25 lapper for the Legend Cars, taking the top spot in the early going. Ryan Kulthau of Howell was second while Toms River’s Ryan MacConnell earned his first driving title by finishing third. Joe Przyblinski and Jack Gerzabek were fourth and fifth. 

    Alonzo Morales of Edgewater Park took the lead early and raced to his fifth win and second driving championship in the Fast 4 25 lap main event.  Ian Ashford, TJ Graves, Joe Pressey and Kevin Maher, Jr. completed the top five.

With the 2024 Wall Stadium Speedway regular season now complete, all attention turns to the 51st running of the Turkey Derby on Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.
