Pro Lates and Street Stocks to Highlight Breast Cancer Awareness Night
(Nashville, TN) Fast paced racing action is ready to return to Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway this coming Saturday, October 5 at The Fairgrounds Nashville. Plenty of racing is on tap for Breast Cancer Awareness night with drivers racing for the final time before the 40th All American 400 weekend in early November.
Headlining the night will be the Pro Late Models on the 5/8-mile, racing for $5,000 to win and $500 to start. In hopes of making the October 5 race a bigger success and as a thank you to all of this year’s teams, race officials added the extra prize money to the October 5 Pro Late Model race. That, combined with the fact that the event is the last tune-up before the AA400 weekend, looks to have made the field a strong one for the weekend.
In addition to the extra purse money, drivers are racing to accumulate points for the Rogers-Dabbs Performance Challenge, which will award the mini-series champion $5,000 at the end of the season. John Bolen currently leads the standings with Jim Wall, Jake Finch, Seth Christenson, and Zack Dixon completing the top five.
Lebanon, TN driver, Dawson Sutton, leads the standings in the class by 36 over Corey Deuser, Chase Johnson, Bennie Hamlett, and Hunter Wright. Sutton, who recently was announced as a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series full-timer, has claimed three feature wins in seven starts.
The Pro Late Model entry list is looking to be one of the strongest of the year with over 20 confirmed and more possible. The rest of the top 13 in Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway points includes Trey Craig, Austin Wilson, Michael Bolden, George Phillips, Daniel Bolden, Stacey Crain, Davey Coble, and Boston Oliver and are confirmed. They will be joined by Jackson Boone, Jim Wall, Troy Hall, Aidan Potter, Brett Robinson, LB Skaggs, Josh Stade, Gavin Graham, Tyler DiLegge, and Chase Burda.
Dixon Plumbing and CJ’s Trailer and Camper Repair have stepped up to add an additional $500 to the Street Stock purse for this Saturday’s event, bringing the win total to $1,700 with $850, $800, $700, and $550 going to the rest of the top five.
Some of the entries for the 5/8-mile Street Stock event include Nashville point leader Michael Pannell from Portland, TN, who has won two of the three events. Gus Moody, Travis Arms, and Phillip McCord, 2nd-4th in points, are also set for Saturday night. Others expected include Wesley Pierce, Blaine Akin, Austin Evans, Cole Baxter, Bubba Winslow, Michael Neidert, and Michael Tucker. Others are expected to enter on or before race day.
Rounding out the 5/8-mile action will be the Big Machine Vodka Spiked Coolers Super Trucks.
Exciting ¼-mile action, which will begin at 5:00 PM Saturday, will see the CP Race Wear Bandoleros, Pest Doctor Front Runners, US Air Force Legends, Pure Stocks, and the Paschall Heating & Air Limited Late Models.
In the Paschall Heating & Air Limited Late Models, Johnathan Dishman leads the points over Peyton Hamlett by 17 markers. Dwayne Hudson, Jeff Templeton, and Dalton Hamlett are also in the top five.
Ray Gann, of Nashville, is atop the Pest Doctor Front Runner standings, leading by 38 over Josh Harrell. Tony Gann, Randell Waterston, and Roger Gann round out the top five.
The Nashville Pure Stock class has Chase Cohron, of Bowling Green, KY, on top. John Bradley, Terry Jackson, Michael Toth, and Jerry Hendrixson, Jr are in the top five.
In US Air Force Legends action, Kevin Rollins leads the Pro/Masters class over Oliver Cordell, Wayne Grubb, Robby Taylor, and Jessie Binkley. In Semi Pro action, Michael Crafton, Dylan Faulkner, and Bradley Swift are racing for the championship, while Max Olmstead, II is atop the Young Lion class.
The youngsters of the CP Race Wear Bandolero class are led by Colt Johnson, of Charlotte, NC. Landon Thrasher is just 10 points back, while James Faulkner, Jordan Bauer, and Mya Eatherly complete the top five.
The October 5 race runs during breast cancer awareness month, which aims to promote screening and prevention of breast cancer, which affects 2.3 million women worldwide. Known best for its pink theme color, the month features a number of campaigns and programs, conducted by groups ranging from breast cancer advocacy organizations to local community organizations to major retailers.
The track will be open Friday afternoon for practice day for all classes with pits at 1:00 PM and practice beginning at 3:00 PM and ending at 7:00 PM. Saturday, pits open at 10:00 AM with practice on track at 12:00 PM, grandstands open at 3:00 PM when qualifying begins, and racing takes the green at 5:00 PM.
