(Stafford Springs, CT)— All eyes turn to Stafford Speedway Friday, June 6th for one of the season’s most anticipated events: the Casella Waste Systems SK Modified® 80. This marquee event not only features an extra distance 80-lap event with a $3,475 winner’s prize and $20,000 in total prize money but also serves as Race 1 of the TickMike.com SK Modified® Triple Crown — a three-race mini-series offering a $20,000 point fund to participating drivers.

Casella Waste Systems, title sponsor of the June 6th opener, is a leading provider of sustainable waste and recycling services across the Northeast. Their ongoing support of Stafford Speedway and local racing continues to elevate short track motorsports in the region.

“Big money and big racing for the SK Modifieds®,” said Stafford Speedway CEO Mark Arute. “Thanks to Casella Waste Systems and TickMike.com, we’re raising the bar for SK Modified® drivers and fans.”

In a unique twist for the three triple crown events, Stafford’s typical handicap system will not be used to set the starting lineup. Instead drivers will randomly draw for their qualifying starting positions and earn their starting position in the 80 lap feature through passing points similar to the +/- system. It’s high stakes, high speed, and high drama for the SK Modified® division.

The Triple Crown, presented by TickMike.com, highlights the three of the biggest SK Modified® races of the year:

·         Casella Waste SK 80 – June 6th

·         CBYD Senators Cup 50 – June 20th

·         NAPA SK 5K 112 – August 1st

The overall champion of the Triple Crown will be determined based on cumulative performance in these three events, with a point fund rewarding all drivers who participate in all of the triple crown events.
