Barre, VT – The Nation’s Site of Excitement, Barre’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl, is ready to shake off the winter blues and kick off year sixty-six high atop Quarry Hill! Following the annual free-to-the-public Car Show at the track on Saturday, and with the help of the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour, the 27th annual Community Bank 150 headlines the start of the 2025 season alongside the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, rk Miles Street Stocks and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors!
Among the local stars in the Maplefields/Irving Oil Late Models, former King of the Road track champions Chris Pelkey and Kaiden Fisher top the charts for Sunday’s 150-lap showdown against the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour invaders. While Fisher is still looking for his first career ACT victory, Pelkey secured his first in last year’s edition of the Community Bank 150. Familiar faces Scott Dragon and Brooks Clark are also looking for another Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour win at their home track Sunday while longtime runner Jimmy Hebert is looking to finally secure his first Community Bank 150 win after coming ever so close last May.
With both Brandon Gray and Kyle Streeter moving on to the Late Model ranks, the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger championship chase is wide open! While Middlesex’s Logan Powers has become the immediate front runner in the top seed, there are still plenty of bullheaded competitors standing in his way. Sam Caron and Brendan Moodie are both poised to make another track championship run while fellow veterans Mike Martin, Shawn Fleury, Mike MacAskill and Robin Wood or young-guns like Tyler Austin and Cam Gadue could nab the brass ring on Sunday.
With Dean Switser’s title defense shrouded in mystery and Trevor Jaques’s departure to the Late Models, the rk Miles Street Stocks similarly find themselves up in the air. Wiley veterans like Tommy ‘Thunder’ Smith, William ‘Wiener’ Hennequin and ‘The Flying Farmer’ Gary Mullen are among those set to teach the large roster of rookie campaigners led by former Road Warrior standouts Tyler Wheatley, Jason Kirby and Jaiden Del Toro. The ‘Crunch Bunch’ is sure to put on the show of the afternoon this Sunday!
Far from least, the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors are also ready to light up another season at Thunder Road. As reported above, several high-ranking drivers moved up to Street Stocks as a new crew invades a shrunken veteran roster. When hen-scratched on the white board, the equation comes out to an incredible recipe for an unknown, but no doubt entertaining, finish for Community Bank Sunday!
The 66th season of world-famous racing at Barre’s Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl kicks off with the annual Car Show and Practice Day on Saturday, May 3. The free-to-the-public Car Show begins at 9:00am and ends at 12:00-noon with open practice running from 1:00pm to 6:00pm.
The following day, Sunday May 4, brings the 27th annual Community Bank, n.a. 150 for the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour and the start of track championship racing for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, rk Miles Street Stocks and the non-point Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors! Grandstands open at 10:00am with annual Class Day Ceremonies at 12:55pm and Post Time set for 1:30pm on Sunday, May 4.
