(Butler Township, Pa. 5-1-25) Work has finally begun on Little Evergreen Raceway, the inner go-kart track that was publicized earlier this year. Unfortunately delays due to the weather hindered work crews from starting the project sooner than had been expected.
The layout of the new track is being done by Wanick Construction of Humbolt. The crew began this morning (Thursday) by milling out an area between the front stretch and Victory Lane. Afterwards they will put in a bottom layer of modified and then top it off with all new asphalt.
Also, the concrete barriers that are currently in place will be removed in order to have a safe run-off which in this case will be the back straight for the karters.
If all goes as planned the track will be ready as early as next week with updated practice times to be announced.
Saturday, May 24 at 1:00 pm is the planned first race day for Little Evergreen Raceway.
Several types of karts will be run at the new facility including the X-PRO Raptor 125cc Karts. The X-PRO Raptor Karts are equipped with a 125cc engine. These karts are delivered partially assembled. The popular JuiceBox Division will also run on the new track.
There is discussion as well about having Bandolero’s and Quarter Midgets racing there too.
All participants are required to adhere to the mandatory safety equipment regulations in order to participate in competitions.
Evergreen Raceway will conduct an open practice on the 1/3-mile oval this Saturday, May 3 from noon to 4:00 pm in advance of the season opener which takes place the next day, Sunday, May 4 headlined by the Tour Type Modifieds racing in a 50-lap/$2000-to-win feature.
Also on the race card are the Harry’s U-Pull-It Street Stocks, Himmer Graphics Four Cylinders, Rotten-and-Forgotten and the touring INEX Legends.
Pits on Sunday will open at 10:30 am and grandstands at noon. Warmups will begin at 12:30 pm and racing starts at 2:00 pm. Pit admission is $40 for all ages. Adult grandstand admission is $18. Kids 12 and under are free.
Track officials are aware of possible pending weather and will keep everyone updated as things progress.
