– Wylie, Barron, VanLane, Giglio, and Schoonmaker Also Victorious During 70th Annual Spencer Speedway Season Opener –
Williamson, N.Y. – (June 7, 2025) – Andrew Lewis, Jr., of Ontario, N.Y., etched his name into the record books Friday night at Spencer Speedway, earning his first-ever Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series victory during the track’s 70th annual season opener.
Lewis grabbed the lead at the drop of the green in the 35-lap feature and never relinquished it, holding off a hard-charging field to seal an emotional win at his home track.
“This is just great,” beamed Lewis from victory lane. “I need to thank my Mom, my Dad, and my entire family for this. Spencer Speedway is in our backyard, and to get my first win here is just incredible. This is a dream-come-true race for me. We’ve had a great car; we just haven’t been able to finish it off—until now.”
Lewis held off defending Series champion Kevin Timmerman, also of Ontario, N.Y., for the win. His uncle, Daryl Lewis, Jr., rounded out the podium with a third-place finish. Mason Hanel (Clarence, N.Y.) and Shawn Nye (Lancaster, N.Y.) completed the top five.
Mike Leaty (Williamson, N.Y.), Evan Rygielski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.), and Eddie Hawkins (Marion, N.Y.) picked up qualifying race wins. Leaty was also the fastest in final practice.
