WINCHESTER, NH-(March 23, 2026) Monadnock Speedway and The Racing Guys have finalized a purse structure for the 2nd Annual Tour Type Open Modifieds Northeast Summer Showdown 100 on Saturday, July 4 at the Winchester, New Hampshire oval.
The holiday race to honor Veterans will have an Independence Day Celebration theme and a purse of more than $56,000, paying $7,600 to win and $1,776 to start. The payoff is expected to increase further, with additional bonus money contributed in the months leading up to this very special holiday event.
Event organizer Dick Williams and The Racing Guys have acquired major sponsorship help from R. Smith Oil of Rhode Island, Ron Bouchard Auto Stores, with five dealerships across Massachusetts, and Maurice Enterprises from Claremont, NH. Additional contributions from numerous other supporters of New England pavement Modified racing will help make this a one-of-a-kind event.
“With this being our nation’s 250th Anniversary, starting in 1776, we have incorporated those numbers into our purse structure,” Williams said. “The number 76 is an important one to The Racing Guys, as it was Russell “Butch” Perry’s number and he is one of our original members.
“His son, Norm is now a member who continues to run the number 76 on his Modified Racing Series Championship car. Monadnock is a paved and banked quarter-mile track steep in Modified history, and the track location is ideal as well, so I feel that it is the perfect venue for this event.”
Many drivers have expressed interest in competing already, and with no conflicting races, the stage is set to see a full field of Modifieds racing to the green flag that will surely include Brett Meservey, Brian Robie, Jacob Perry and many others.
This event will be sanctioned by the Modified Racing Series to ensure organization and proper technical and safety inspections. Four of Monadnock’s weekly divisions will also be in competition for this special event, with the Limited Late Models, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks and Young Guns divisions in competition.
