— Heitzhaus, Measheaw, Timmerman, Ridgway, and Gullo also reign victorious —
WILLIAMSON N.Y. (July 31, 2026) — Friday night at Spencer Speedway was none other than “Kid’s Night.” With six action-packed classes, plus a few Vintage Modifieds, young race fans got an amazing show. And, the younger generation of drivers showed off their skills, as well.
The main event, the Race of Champions Sportsmen Modified 35-lap feature, started off with Mason Hanel on the pole.
15-year-old Hanel held off early advances from Chris Finocchario, before Andy Jankowiak slipped into second coming down the front stretch to officially score Lap 1.
Hanel held off Jankowiak by going into the corners low, and running the high side down the straightaways. Even when a caution came out on Lap 17, and then again not even a whole lap later, Hanel still held him off.
Jankowiak edged closer and closer to Hanel, and on the second restart the two battled side-by-side. But it wasn’t long before Jankowiak backed off; Hanel held on.
Hanel, from Clarence Center, NY, was grateful to be in Victory Lane.
“I’m just so thankful for everyone,” said Hanel. “I love Andy [Jankowiak], but he’s someone that I wanna beat more than anyone. We were struggling early in the season, but we got it figured out [now].”
Rounding out the top three were
