On a brief hiatus from the national Late Model wars, Watertown, NY driver Tim McCreadie will commemorate his induction into the Northeast Dirt Modified Hall of Fame by getting back in a Modified next weekend, competing in the SummerFAST Super DIRTcar Series Hall of Fame 100 at Weedsport Speedway.
In ceremonies on Thursday evening August 13, “T-Mac” will follow his famous dad “Barefoot Bob” into the Hall of Fame, becoming the first father-son drivers to be so honored.
That Sunday, August 16, McCreadie will be back in a dirt Modified for the 100-lap race he’s won twice, in 2001 and ’02. The car he’ll be driving—a Bicknell powered by a C.C. Performance big-block—is owned and prepared by Central NY racer Vince Vitale and will sport Bob McCreadie’s old car number and paint scheme. Tim has already had the car out for some hot laps at Utica-Rome; plans are to shake it down in full race trim at Brewerton Speedway on Friday prior to Sunday’s big race.
In addition, McCreadie’s friend and former teammate Vic Coffey is putting together a tribute No. 39 Mod, resplendent in throwback Sweeteners Plus colors, that will sit front and center in the Museum for the Hall of Fame inductions. Afterwards, the car’s body panels, all signed by Tim, will be auctioned off with winners being announced at Sunday’s Weedsport race. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Northeast Dirt Modified Museum, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to preserving the history of the sport. Bidding begins on Friday, August 7 and will end prior to the Hall of Fame race on August 16. Place bids for the body panels online at https://facebook.com/share/p/1BpF1aUXUs/.
Also at the induction ceremonies: a winner’s name will be drawn for the special edition Denago PowerSports pit bike, designed after Tim McCreadie’s throwback Late Model honoring his dad, signed by Tim and #9 of only 50 produced. Generously donated by Dave Warren Golf Carts & Powersports, the pit bike raffle is raising funds for Drivers for the Cure, a cancer charity fund. Tickets are still available at tmac9bike.com.
The 7 pm induction ceremonies on Thursday, August 13 will be preceded by a “Happy Hour” reception hosted by Weedsport Speedway from 5:30-6:45 pm, just outside the Museum on the speedway campus. The event is free and open to the public.
The racing action begins Sunday, August 16, with Weedsport Speedway’s Hall of Fame 100, the kickoff for DIRTcar’s four-night SummerFAST mini-series. Start time is 7 pm. Tickets are available at weedsportspeedway.com.
