(Stafford Springs, CT)—On a night that Stafford Speedway remembered former Limited Late Model track champion Rich Hammann, who passed away unexpectedly last week, Aaron Plemons took the victory in a special 28-lap feature that paid tribute to Hammann’s car number. There was also over $3,500 in contingency awards posted in Hammann’s memory from USNE Power, Stan Mertz Racing, Casagrande Builders, W.D. Striebel Trucking, Lu-Mac’s Package Store, LifeCare Family Chiropractic, Preferred Trucking of Agawam, MA, and Reclamations and Creations Woodworking along with regular contingency partners The Driveshaft Shop, R.A.D. Auto Machine, Voodoo Ranger, and New England Racing Fuel. Other feature winners on the night were Anthony Flannery, who notched his first career SK Modified® feature victory, Adam Gray in the Late Model feature, Matt Brewer was a first time career winner in the SK Light feature, and Brent Gleason won the Street Stock feature.
In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature event, David Arute spun going down the backstretch with Josh Morrison getting into the backstretch wall and Curt Brainard was also involved to bring the caution out before the first lap could be completed.
Dylan Izzo took the early lead on the restart with Ethan Durocher in second. Jon Puleo was third with Mikey Flynn and Steven Chapman going wheel to wheel for fourth place. Durocher dove to the inside of Izzo on lap-2 but he couldn’t complete the pass as they were still fighting wheel to wheel on lap-5. Puleo was still third with Chapman and Alexander Pearl now wheel to wheel for fourth place. Durocher got clear into the lead on lap-6 with Izzo and Pearl now side by side behind him fighting for second. Marcelo Rufrano was now in fourth with Chapman fifth.
Pearl took the lead from Durocher on lap-8 and the move allowed Izzo to pull alongside and take second from Durocher. Chapman took third just before the caution came out for spins in turn 2 by Arute and David Flammia, Jr.
Izzo took the lead from Pearl on the restart with Pearl and Durocher now side by side for second with Chaman and Rufrano side by side behind them for fourth in a high speed pace lap. Pearl came back to retake the lead on lap015 with Chapman taking second to drop Izzo back to third. Durocher was looking to the outside of Izzo but was unable to make the pass. Troy Talman was up to fifth behind Durocher and Izzo while Chapman was looking for a way to get around Pearl for the lead. The caution came out with 20 laps complete for Bryan Narducci, who spun in turn 4 and collected the cars of Puleo, Todd Owen, and Art Caruso.
Chapman took the lead on the restart with Pearl slotting into second. Durocher was third with Anthony Flannery fourth and Andrew Molleur fifth. The caution came back out with 25 laps complete for moisture on the track.
Chapman took the lead on the restart but only one lap was completed before the caution came back out for Todd Owen, whose car was sparking heavily before he got into the turn 3 wall.
Pearl went around on the restart in turn 1 to bring the caution flag immediately back out before another lap could be completed. Rufrano was sent to the rear of the field for making contact with Pearl.
Chapman took the lead on the restart with Flannery hanging tough on the outside of Chapman in second. Durocher was third with Modlleur fourth and Flynn fifth. Pearl went around in turn 2 which collected Wade Gagner and Chris Buffone and brought the caution flag back out with 28 laps complete.
Chapman and Flannery resumed their duel for the race lead with Molleur taking third. Flannery took the lead from Chapman on lap-30 with Flynn fourth and Anthony Bello up to fifth. Molleur went to the outside of Chapman on lap-32 but couldn’t make the pass.
With 5 laps to go Flannery had the lead with Chapman and Molleur lined up right behind him in a 3-car train for the lead. Chapman was looking high and low but he couldn’t muster up enough momentum to make a pass. Chapman ;made a last lap bid for the lead and he and Flannery touched in turn 4 with both cars getting sideways but Flannery came off turn 4 in the lead and he took the checkered flag to pick up his first career SK Modified® feature win at Stafford. Molleur took second with Chapman, Bello, and Cory DiMatteo rounding out the top-5.
In the 30-lap Late Model feature, Darrell Keane streaked into the early race lead with Adam Gray, Kevin Gambacorta, Wayne Coury, Jr., and Josh Wood lined up behind him. Coury took third from Gambacorta on lap-7 and that move opened the door for Wood to follow him by into fourth and Paul Varricchio, Jr. to take fifth to drop Gambacorta back to sixth.
Gambacorta fell back to eighth place as Chris Meyer took sixth and Chris Buffone seventh with Adon Burrell right behind Gambacorta in ninth place. With 15 laps complete Keane was still leading Gray with Wood having gotten around Coury to move up to third and drop Coury back to fourth. Varricchio was still running fifth with Meyer, Buffone, Gambacorta, and Burrell behind him. Buffone’s car began to smoke heavily going into turn 1 and he came to a stop in turn 2 to bring the caution flag out with 19 laps complete.
Gray took the lead on the outside of Keane on the restart with Wood moving into third. Varricchio and Coury were side by side for fourth with Gambacorta and Meyer side by side for sixth behind them. Varricchio took fourth on lap-22 with Gambacorta taking fifth to drop Coury back to sixth and Meyer to seventh.
Varricchio took third place from Coury on lap-27 with Coury taking fourth and Wood slotting into fifth place. Gambacorta was sixth with Meyer seventh and Burrell eighth. Keane couldn’t get close enough to Gray as Gray took the checkered flag to pick up his fourth win of the 2026 season. Keane finished second with Varricchio, Coury, and Wood rounding out the top-5.
In the 20-lap SK Light feature, Cassandra Cole took the lead from pole position but she would only lead the first lap before Matt Brewer charged into the lead on lap-2. Cole and Brewer ran wheel to wheel for two laps before Cole got clear back into the lead on lap-4. Sami Anderson worked her way up to third with Dylan Houghton fourth and Paul Arcari fifth.
Stephen Kalogiannis took fifth from Arcari while Houghton was pressuring Anderson for third. Houghton was able to take third place on lap-10 while Cole and Brewer were still out front. The caution flag came out with 11 laps complete for a crash in turn 1 involving the cars of Zach Lynch and Connor Christmas.
Brewer streaked into the lead on the restart in the outside lane with Houghton taking second. Cole fell back to third with Anderson and Jason Finkbein wheel to wheel for fourth place. Finkbein took fourth on lap-13 and with 3 laps to go, Houghton was applying heavy pressure on Brewer for the lead.
Houghton tried several times to make a run to the inside of Brewer but he couldn’t make the pass as Brewer took down his first career feature victory at Stafford. Houghton finished second with Finkbein, Cole, and Bob Charland rounding out the top-5.
In the special distance 28-lap Limited Late Model feature, RJ Surdell took the early lead with Adrien Paradis, III taking second behind him. Aaron Plemons was third with Gary Patnode and Kyle Theriault making up the top-5. Paradis made a move on lap-2 and he took the lead from Surdell at the line but they raced door to door and Surdell led lap-3 by a nose.
Paradis got clear into the lead on lap-4 with Plemons taking second. Surdell fell back to third with Patnode and Theriault still holding fourth and fifth.
At the halfway point of the race it was still Paradis in command with Plemons right on his bumper in second. Patnode was now third with Surdell fourth and Theriault fifth. Norm Root, III took fifth place from Theriault on lap-19 and Jason Lafayette followed him by to take sixth and drop Theriault back to seventh. Plemons got a good run to the inside of Paradis on lap-21 and he took over the race lead.
Lafayette took over third place from Patnode with Root following him by one lap later to take fourth. Surdell was now fifth and he worked his way to the inside of Root on lap-27 to move into fourth. Plemons led the field to the checkered flag to pick up his third win of the 2026 season. Paradis finished second with Lafayette, Root, and Theriault edging out Surdell to round out the top-5.
In the 20-lap Street Stock feature, David Ciastko took the lead at the drop of the green flag while Marvin Minkler drifted up the track and fell back to tenth place. Ryan Waterman streaked from fifth into the lead by the end of the first lap with Brandon Warren right behind him in second. Brent Gleason was third behind the two race leaders with Matthew Lowinski-Loh fourth and Ciastko fifth. Minkler and Steve Kenneway both spun in turn 2 which collected the car of Kolton Gambacorta and brought the caution flag out with 5 laps complete.
Gleason took the lead from Waterman on the restart with Lowinski-Loh moving into third. Brandon Warren was fourth with PJ Evans up to fifth. The caution came back out with 8 laps complete for a spin on the backstretch by Scott Sundeen and Larry Barnett.
Gleason again took the lead back under green with Waterman and Lowinski-Loh behind him. Warren was fourth in line with Evans holding fifth place. Lowinski-Loh was looking for a way around Waterman for second, but Waterman was able to hold him off. Jason Raymond got around Evans to take over fifth place while Gleason was starting to slowly stretch out his advantage over Waterman.
Gleason led the field to the checkered flag to pick up his second win of the 2026 season. Waterman held off Lowinski-Loh for second with Warren taking fourth and Raymond rounding out the top-5.
