(Butler Township, Pa. 9-14-26) With only two regular-season points races remaining at Evergreen Raceway, fans can expect competition to intensify this Sunday afternoon, September 20, as championship battles remain tight across every division with drivers fighting for the top spot in their respective standings.
The Harry’s U-Pull-It Street Stocks, Himmer Graphics Four Cylinders, McNulty Funeral Home Four Cylinder Novice, Rotten-and-Forgotten plus the East Coast Legends Series all bring very close title fights into Sunday’s action.
In the Street Stocks the top-5 in points are all statistically in the hunt, which includes point leader Mike Pollack followed closely by Scott Adams then Mallory Kutz, Peyton Arthofer and Paul Frantz.
Pollack holds a 23-point edge over Adams heading into Sunday’s event. He’s also stringed together and amazing run of finishes over the last eight races in which he has not been lower than second including three consecutive victories.
Adams, though, has been keeping pace, as he has won three times as well and when not taking a checkered flag has consistently finished on the heels of Pollack.
The Four Cylinders also have a great point battle shaping up as every driver in the top-10 is mathematically eligible to take the crown, although realistically it appears that it is in the hands of those within the top-5 that will be slugging it out for the class championship.
Jared Frye brings a 31-point advantage over Tyler Skordensky heading into Sunday and just 37 points out of first is Robert McNulty. Also, in the top-5 are Gavin Higgins and Caitlyn Makarewicz who can easily make a run at the trio ahead of them.
Likewise, the Rotten-and-Forgotten and Novice Four Cylinders have battles that are even closer than the aforementioned classes.
In the Rotten-an-Forgotten Jordon Young is just 18 points to the good over Dan Jensen and 19 up on Vince Corter.
And the Novice Four Cylinders have the closest fight of them all as Shane Elliott maintains a very slim 3-point edge over Justin Merkel Jr., and 11 up on AJ Frantz.
Riely O’Keefe holds a point lead on Jeffery Farrugia by 35 markers and 51 ahead of defending Evergreen Legends champ Chris Sinatro. O’Keefe, however, has been on a terror this year going undefeated and matter-of-fact has won six consecutive races dating back to last year when he swept the King of the Green weekend. Not only that but O’Keefe has won seven out of 10 starts this year at his home track Riverhead Raceway and last week added a victory at Mahoning Valley Speedway.
Bolstering Sunday’s already intense points battles will be the return of the Tour Type Modifieds making it a great afternoon of “Asphalt Racing At Its Finest”.
Adult grandstand admission is only $15. Kids 12 and under are free. Pits are $40 per person. Warm-ups begin at 12:30 pm and racing starts at 2:00 pm.
