(Butler Township, Pa. 10-20-26) In what started out as a high-paying event at Evergreen Raceway just got even bigger.
The DW Machine & Fabrication Company King of the Green 100 for Late Models is taking place on Sunday, November 1, and is part of the 25th Annual King of the Green. It started out as a $5000-to-win feature. However, in an ongoing effort to bolster the race Dennis Wenner of DW Machine & Fabricating Company has acquired additional sponsorship that will now see the winner earn $8000. Second place will pay $3000 third takes home $2000 with $1500 and $1200 respectively for fourth and fifth. It’s $400 to start.
Wenner isn’t done there yet. Along with track owner/promoter Jason Makawericz they have announced that if 30 or more cars are signed-in on the day of the race first place will be a whopping $10,000 which would make it the largest payout in track history.
Since it was first announced interest has continued to mount with calls from race teams coming in from all parts of the country.
“From the time we announced this event last month we’ve been getting some great feedback with drivers wanting to be part of it,” said Makarwicz.
“Dennis (Wenner) has been working very hard to make this one of the biggest races we’ve ever staged at Evergreen and almost daily he calls and says how he’s picked up more sponsorship. And now with first place paying $8000 and the possibility of going as high as $10,000 if we pull 30 or more cars, this is going to be an amazing show.”
