Historic North Wilkesboro Speedway Welcomes Regional Sponsors for Oct. 17 SMART Modified Tour Championship Finale

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. (Oct. 5, 2026) – A trio of Wilkes County automotive businesses are joining historic North Wilkesboro Speedway to host a spectacular grassroots racing tripleheader.

Set for Saturday, Oct. 17, the tripleheader features the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic season finale, the 99-lap Friendly Tire 99, along with the 62-lap Carolina Crate Modified Series Northwest Automotive 62 and the 30-lap Carolina Mini-Stocks Broadway Collision 30.

The Friendly Tire 99 will serve as the season finale for the SMART Modified Tour. NASCAR veteran Ryan Newman and a field of modified racing stars are expected to compete for the final SMART Modified Tour trophy of the season. Friendly Tire, based in Wilkesboro, provides automotive repair, wheel alignment and tire services to customers throughout the region.

The Northwest Automotive 62 will showcase rising talent in the Carolina Crate Modified Series, including Carter McMurray, son of 2014 NASCAR All-Star Race winner Jamie McMurray, and Brooklyn Newman, daughter of Ryan Newman. Northwest Automotive is an independent automotive repair shop in North Wilkesboro specializing in maintenance and repair services.

The Broadway Collision 30, presented by Better Homes Furniture Company, will round out the three-race program with the Carolina Mini-Stocks. Broadway Collision provides auto body repair and collision restoration services to the local community.

“North Wilkesboro Speedway is proud to welcome Friendly Tire, Northwest Automotive and Broadway Collision as partners for this exciting day of racing,” said Graig Hoffman, executive director of North Wilkesboro Speedway. “The support of local and regional businesses is an important part of bringing events like this to life, and we appreciate their investment in our speedway and the racing community.”

Spectator gates open at 10 a.m., with practice and qualifying beginning at 10:45 a.m. Pre-race ceremonies are expected to kick off at 1:55 p.m. with racing beginning at 2:20 p.m.

In addition to racing on the five-eighths-mile oval, fans can attend the free-admission Moonshiners & Racers Reunion presented by Friendly Tire, featuring a vintage car show and autograph sessions with racing pioneers. The event begins at 9 a.m. outside the main gate.

Tickets for the tripleheader start at $30 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger. 

Trackside camping and Turn 4 premium seating also are available.
