SHIRLEY, Mass. — Kevin Iannarelli’s busy summer racing schedule rolls on this Sunday, September 5, as the No. 27 team will celebrate Labor Day in Claremont, New Hampshire. Set to compete in the 75-lap Key Chevrolet Buick GMC of Newport feature with the Modified Racing Series, Iannarelli will drive the VTANG machine in search of his first win of the season.

Iannarelli’s summer stretch stopped in Maine last weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway, where Iannarelli finished sixth, posting another solid top-10 run in the competitive field. He currently sits fourth in the series point standings with just two races to go in the schedule, following Claremont. The tricky New Hampshire track will prove to be an important race in the chase for the championship — but more importantly for Iannarelli — his number one goal is to park the car in Victory Lane. Extra purse money is on the line this weekend and Iannarelli would love to be the one who puts it in his pocket.

“I’m excited to head to Claremont and try to tackle everything that car offers,” Iannarelli said. “It’s a tight track, with some of the most passionate race fans in New England in that area. This is a marquee event for the track and I’m hoping we can be the team to hold the trophy at the end of the night. With all of the support VTANG gives our race team, it’s only fitting that we celebrate a win this weekend as part of Labor Day for them and all of our partners.”

Kevin Iannarelli Racing supporters the airmen of the Vermont Air National Guard and their dedication to the citizens over the past 18 months in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. VTANG is, and has been, a proud sponsor of the team. The proud home of the 158th Fighter Wing, VTANG became the first Air National Guard unit to base the F-35A Lightning II, the most advanced and capable weapon system in the U.S. Air Force in September of 2019. This all-volunteer force continues their legacy by serving a dual mission: serving the communities of Vermont and supporting combatant commanders around the world. They are just one of many sponsors of the operation in hopes of carrying the checkered flag.

Iannarelli, who started his career in the Mini Cups, spent a stint down south working with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and JR Motorsports, before moving back to New England and taking a job with iRacing.com, where he is the Associate Producer. Iannarelli is a former winner at Star Speedway, located in Epping, N.H., in their Tour Modified weekly division. He also has sponsorship from iRacing.com, Access Realty, Lucas Oil & others.

Sunday’s Labor Day weekend action at Claremont Motorsports Park includes multiple divisions for a full night of action. The Street Stocks, NELCAR Legends, Mini Stocks, Six Shooters and Pure Stocks will join the Modified Racing Series presented by Key Chevrolet Buick GMC of Newport. Practice begins at 2:40 p.m. for Modified Racing Series teams, with qualifying racing set to go green just after 5 p.m. The 75-lap Modified Racing Series feature will be the final event of the night.

After Claremont, the team will be visiting Star, a track where Iannarelli is extremely comfortable.
