WHITINSVILLE, Mass. – Welcome back, Woody.

For the first and only time in 2022, Woody Pitkat will drive the No. 6 Koopman Lumber Modified for Stan Mertz Racing this weekend at Claremont Motorsports Park. Set to race on Friday, May 27, with a $15,000 winning prize on the line in the Racing Guys 100, Pitkat will be competing against some stout Modified competition from across New England.

Matt Galko wheeled the No. 6 Stan Mertz Racing machine in the first two races of the season, both at Stafford Motor Speedway. Galko finished top-10 in both events, helping Mertz Racing kick-off the season with speed, while leading laps and running in the front. Pitkat is no stranger to Stan Mertz Racing – as a former Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Sunoco Modified champion with the team, and frontrunner in Tour-Type Modified competition.

The man they call the “Sultan of Stafford” has 78 career wins at the Connecticut half-mile and multiple others across New England. The team is excited to have him back for this special event at Claremont – a place where the group has run together before.

“For me, this race is one of the biggest races of the season for us,” team owner Stan Mertz said. “With $15,000 to win, it is an amazing incentive. Woody has always run very well with my car at Claremont and we are looking forward to running together again for this race. Princess is ready to go and we hope Woody can take us to Victory Lane Friday at Claremont.”

Friday’s practice sessions begin at 4 p.m., followed by the beginning of qualifying heats at 7 p.m. The feature race is estimated to take the green flag around 9 p.m. and will air live on RacingAmerica.TV for those who can’t make it to the track.
