GEORGETOWN, DE  49 for 25k.

49 laps, $25,000 to win. That’s the headline for the seventh running of the annual ‘Melvin L. Joseph Memorial’ at Delaware’s historic Georgetown Speedway.

The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco makes its first of three visits to the Sussex County facility in 2022 on Thurs.-Sat. March 10-12.

This year, the Melvin L. Joseph Memorial carries even more weight, as the STSS carries its newly launched Halmar International ‘Elite’ Series banner to the First State.

The trip to Georgetown will be the second of a six-race series paying a minimum of $25,000 to win at each, with a total purse coming in at right around $80,000 for STSS big-block/small-block Modified competitors. This event is the most lucrative dirt-track race in Delaware history!

The weekend kicks off on Thursday (March 10) with an open practice for all divisions from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Racing begins on Friday (March 11), as the PA/NJ Spec Small-Block Modifieds race for 30 laps for $4,049 payday and $300 to take the green flag.

The First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models will also be on hand for a 20-lap $1,049-to-win feature to kick off their 2022 campaign at Georgetown Speedway.

The Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Car Club, Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers will take part in 12-lap, feature-only events.

The STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman will have two practice rounds as well, with one round being timed for a redraw spot for Saturday’s features. Hot laps begin at 6:20 p.m. with racing set to start at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.

All roads lead to Saturday’s STSS Modified event and the $25,000 pot at the end of the 49-lap main event.

The STSS Modified feature represents the second round of the Halmar International ‘Elite’ Series and Round No. 1 of the Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply South Region.

The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman kick off their chase for the Belmont’s Garage South Region title in a 25-lap, $1,549-to-win feature event.

The Delaware Super Trucks, Delmarva Chargers and Little Lincolns join Saturday’s program for 12-lap, feature-only events. Hot laps are slated to begin at 4 p.m. and racing to follow at 5 p.m.

Sunday, March 13 is reserved as a rain date.
