Barre, VT — After the largest purse increase in recent memory, the 60th Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank has the American-Canadian Tour Late Model community buzzing. $103,100 is up for grabs across the 26-car starting field included lap money, all new heat race purses and special bonus’ that all highlight Thunder Road’s celebration of the 60th edition of the ‘Toughest Short Track Stock Car Race in North America.’
Starting on Saturday, October 1st with Booth Bros./Hood Milk Bowl Qualifying Day, the action heats up for the large expected Late Model field as they take on a whole new enemy, the Time Clock. For the one and only time during the season each driver races the track alone, apart from the customary eight or ten-car heat race field found week in and week out at Thunder Road or along the American-Canadian Tour.
Two laps for each driver determines the starting field for three ‘Triple-50’ heat races with the fastest time earning the pole for Sunday’s big dance and second-fastest earning outside pole. Booth Bros. and Hood, multi-decade supporters of the Vermont Milk Bowl, celebrate the fast-time achievements with $1,000 going to the polesitter and $500 going toward the second-fastest driver.
Swiftly moving into the three 50 lap heat races, each now holding its own $4,300 purse to add into the drama of Booth Bros./Hood Milk Bowl Qualifying Day. $1,000 will go to the winner of each respective heat with the top-10 earning cash bonuses as the starting line-up is set for Sunday’s three-segment extravaganza.
By Sunday morning, even before the first green flag has flown, one lucky driver could very well be walking through the pit gates with $2,000 in their pockets after taking the Booth Bros./Hood fast time and winning their respective heat race. If that same lucky driver proceeds to lead every lap in segment one, they would park it pit side $4,500 in the black. Amazingly, that’s nowhere close to the end of the possibilities with two 50 lap segments to go!
Along with the $100-per-lap breakdown between the top three leaders of each lap, a $12,000 Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl winners-share waits in victory lane alongside a pair of special, big-money bonuses. Should the winner sweep all three segments to earn a ‘perfect score’ of just 3 points, they would receive a $10,000 bonus. If the perfect three is too much a challenge, a victorious 4 or 5 point win is worth a $5,000 bonus!
If all the pieces fall together, the winner of Sunday’s 60th Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank could walk away with over $25,000 in cash prizes, not to mention the true privilege of kissing a beautiful Vermont dairy cow in front of fans both at Thunder Road and around the world on FloRacing and having their name carved in Barre Granite on the premises.
