Matt Sheppard continued his dream season taking the 61st running of the Eastern States 200 at Orange County Fair Speedway.
In the last 6 weeks Matt has won virtually every big Dirt Modified across the Northeast today adding the Eastern States race and $40,000 first prize money.
He did not take the effortless route to the front as was assessed a penalty and had to go to the rear of the field on lap 45. Drivers were told in the pit meeting that you could not change a tire on your first stop and his team changed a tire on their first stop leading to the pit penalty.
Matt charged through the field and was behind Stewart Friesen on lap 195 when Stewart brushed the inside wall in traffic allowing Matt to get to the lead and win.
Notes: This was the final event of the 2022 Orange County Fair Speedway season
It was announced in the drivers meeting that contrary to rumors the track will be racing in 2023.
45 cars started the feature, 21 cars finished on the lead lap.
