The “Working Man’s Race” American Racer Cup Short Track SuperNationals is going back to basics in 2022 at Afton Motorsports Park. For the first time since 2013 – and as it was in its inaugural running – the Short Track SuperNationals will be contested as a “non-points-paying” Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Fueled By Sunoco event for the Modifieds.

The move by BD Motorsports Media LLC puts the 50-lap, $5,500-to-win event back in the hands of the weekend warriors the event designed to support.

The 14th running of the Short Track SuperNationals takes place on the Afton Fairgrounds, located just off Interstate 88 Exit 7, Friday, Oct. 7 and Saturday, Oct. 8.

Saturday’s (Oct. 8) event is headlined by the Modified 50 paying $5,500 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $500 to start.

Also on the Saturday program:

·         American Racer Cup Modified Match Races – $2,000 to win

·         Short Track Super Series Precision Hydraulic & Oil Crate 602 Sportsman North Region Championship – 25 laps, $1,500 to win

·         Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Racing Series

Pit gates open at 2 p.m. Saturday with grandstand gates unlocked at 3 p.m. Hot laps get underway at 5:30 p.m. with racing at 6:30 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $25 for Adults, $20 for Seniors (ages 65 and up), $10 for Kids (ages 9-14) and Children 8 and under are FREE.

Pit Admission is $40 (ages 13 and up), $10 Kids (ages 6-12) and $2 Children (ages 5 and under).

Friday night’s (Oct. 7) event is topped by Open vs. Crate 602 Sportsman in a 30-lap event paying $1,500 to the winner.

Also on the Friday agenda:

·         Modified practice – two fastest drivers lock into Saturday redraw

·         American Racer Cup Sportsman Match Races – $1,000 to win

·         Ted’s Body Shop Limited Sportsman – 20 laps, $300 to win

·         Slingshots 15 laps, $300 to win

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. Friday with grandstand gates unlocked at 4 p.m. Hot laps get underway at 6 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m.

Friday Grandstand admission is $15 for Adults, $13 for Seniors (ages 65 and up), $5 for Kids (ages 9-14) and Children 8 and under are FREE.

Pit admission is $40 (ages 13 and up), $10 Kids (ages 6-12) and $2 Children (ages 5 and under).

Sunday is reserved as a rain date if needed.

The event will be broadcast live on FloRacing (www.floracing.tv).
