N. Woodstock, NH — With the 2023 season nearing, the headlining Foley Oil & Propane Late Models are ready to roll at White Mountain Motorsports Park in year thirty-one for the venerable New Hampshire oval. Former champions and victory lane frequent flyers return to White Mountain for the 2023 season with a new rookie and plenty of room for new names to grace the WMMP wins list.
Nine-time and defending King of the Mountain track champion Quinny Welch is already set up for a busy 2023. Welch has been piloting the Chad Sullivan-owned #0NH on the American-Canadian Tour in three-races so far this year. The duo successfully took down two top-10 finishes at the non-point Easter Bunny doubleheader down south at Hickory Motor Speedway in March before taking down a 26th-place finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway to start the point-counting season.
Aside from the ACT side of things, Welch continues to prepare his iconic #78NH M.A. Bean Associates Chevy Camaro for his title defense at White Mountain. After partnering with Dale Shaw Race Cars last season, Welch bounced back to his former self to take down one win, eleven top-5 and thirteen top-10 finishes to claim his record ninth WMMP track championship. Unfortunately for Welch, his competition is set to be just as strong as last season.
Six-time White Mountain champion Stacy Cahoon is back with his equally iconic #83VT R&R Fireworks Chevy Impala. Ready to begin his 23rd consecutive season at White Mountain, the soon-to-be 65-year-old Cahoon continues to be young at heart after taking twelve top-10 finishes in thirteen events last season to come home 3rd overall. While these two longtime rivals look to battle one another on the track for another season, they continue to face a litany of challengers headed by 2021 King of the Mountain Jeff Marshall.
Even with a part-time season in 2022, Marshall was able to secure two wins in the competitive division, including the extra-distance Independence Day spectacular. Marshall has stated he’s set for, at least, a part time schedule until more sponsorship is secured with 2022 championship runner-up Jesse Switser also confirming a part time schedule for 2023.
Former Kid’s Truck standout Kyle Goodbout is stepping up to the Late Models looking for the Rookie of the Year title while Michael Clark is also moving up from the Flying Tigers full time after making a couple runs at the end of last season. Young-guns Ryan Ware and Kasey Beattie along with old guard Mark and Pat Patten and Mike Jurkowski are also among those set to return with a host of part-timers also looking forward to the Wall’s Ford Platinum Late Model Series.
The 31st season at White Mountain Motorsports Park opens on Saturday, May 20th with a seven-division showdown to kick-off the year. Headlined by the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model 150, all six White Mountain local divisions will also be on hand to start the season in style. The Central Asphalt Paving Triple Crown Series begins with a 75-lap showdown for the Fisher Auto Parts Flying Tigers on Saturday, June 3rd before roaring into the Independence Day Spectacular on Saturday, July 1st and wrapping up on Saturday, August 19th.
