HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – Last time Justin Bonsignore visited Oswego Speedway, he left with the trophy and checkered flag in his hand. This time, he’s going back to the Western New York oval in the thick of a championship battle where he’s chasing his fourth NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour title.
Bonsignore will return to Oswego as part of their Classic weekend this Saturday, September 2, for the Toyota Mod Classic 150 at 7:30 p.m.
With just six races remaining in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season, and four of them in the next five weeks, Bonsignore has his sights set on the title. He’s currently second, one point behind Ron Silk in the battle for the crown.
In seven career Oswego starts, Bonsignore has top-five finishes in all but one of them. He’s finished on the podium five times at the ‘Steel Palace’ and has been top-five in all but one NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event so far this season.
“Oswego has been good to us since we started going there,” Bonsignore said. “We had a strong car last year, a little bit of strategy played a role in the finish and we were able to come out with the win. The next few weeks are going to be important for our Phoenix Communications team. We’re looking forward to kicking off the stretch during Classic weekend at Oswego – certainly one of the more high-speed tracks we visit with a fine line to having success.”
The schedule for Oswego includes final practice from 2-3 p.m., qualifying at 5 p.m. and the green flag for the 150-lap race at 7:30 p.m. The race will air live on FloRacing.TV for those who can’t make it to the track.
