The Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modifieds will get in on the richest weekend at Riverhead Raceway when they compete in the General Welding Supply Corp. 50 event during the Islip 300 program. The race winner will walk off with a cool $2,500, largest ever for a Crate Modified victory at the historic quarter mile. Director of Technical Inspection Randy Murray also disclosed the rules package for the event in an effort to draw other GM 602 Crate Modifieds in the Northeast.

“The money will be plentiful for the Crate Mods too Saturday November 11th, thanks to the sponsorship of General Welding Supply Corp of Holbrook. “, boasted GM John Ellwood while making the sponsor announcement. “With $2,500 on the line for the victory, we have opened up our weekly rules package, hoping we gain interest from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New England” John added. General Welding Supply Corp. is the official welding supplier of the NASCAR Weekly Series at Riverhead Raceway and have been involved with the billboard program at the track for numerous seasons.

Director of Technical Inspection Randy Murray revealed the rules package in place for the 50-lapper. Sealed engines only, teams can use a 4412-carburetor providing they fit the go/no-go gauges. Teams can also switch to the Crate legal four-barrel carburetor. Clutches must be 10 & 1/2 inches. 8″ or 10″ wheels permitted but must use the Riverhead f53 Hoosier Tire. 

602 Crate Modified teams can register for the event free through November 9th by visiting http://www.riverheadraceway.com. A $150 late fee will be charged after November 9th.

The one day show Saturday November 11th will get off to an early start with pit gates opening at 7:30 am. Practice for the General Welding Supply 50 Crate Modified event will run for a half hour 11:00 am through 11:30 am. Qualifying will commence at 12 noon, while spectator gates opening at 10:00.  General admission is $40 for adults, $15 for kids 6-12 with 5 & under free. The pit fee for Saturday will be $55, no licenses required. Campers are welcome at no charge, there are no hook-ups and camping is confined to the back parking lot behind the pits area. 

Aside from the General Welding Supply 50 for the Crate Modifieds and the $7,000 to win Islip 300 for Tour Type Modifieds, the INEX Legend Race Cars will go to post in the HIGHMARK Building Efficiency 40 worth $2,000 to the victor. The Eddie Partridge Vintage All-Stars will run a 15-lap main event. Rain date for the November 11th program is Saturday November 18th.
