OSWEGO, NY (August 30, 2024) – Buffalo, NY native Andy Cryan wound up in victory lane after winning the Midstate Basement Authorities Dave London Memorial  XVI Super Stock race at the Oswego Speedway Friday night.

Tim Farro and Barrett Schenk led the field to the green flag, with Farro taking the point, with Tim Gullo and Garrett Zacharias racing in the top three. Tim Gullo would take over the lead on lap two with Garrett Zacharias and Griffin Miller in the top three. Zacharias would take over the lead on lap four, with Gullo, Miller, Tony Hanbury, and Andy Cryan racing in the top five. Cryan started 11th on the grid and it took the Buffalo driver just five laps to get into the top five.

Cryan would take over fourth after passing Miller, as Hanbury challenged Gullo for second place. Bryan Granger spun in turn four to bring out the caution after hitting the inside boiler plate, and Brian Hallett went pitside to make adjustments and change a left front tire on his number 36.

The ensuing restart would see Zacharias charge into the lead, with Hanbury moving into the runner up position. Tucker Muphly hit the turn three wall to bring out the caution on lap 10. The restart would see Zacharias and Hanbury battling hard for the lead, with Zacharias at the point. Contact was made and the 71z of Zacharias bounced off the inside boiler plate and then shot up into the turn two wall.

Griffin Miller and Tim Gullo would be on the front row for the restart, with Miller in the lead, and Andy Cryan taking over second place. Mike Hyman and Chris Batorski spun in turn three to bring the caution back out on lap 11.

Bill Frisbee would take over the point following the lap 12 restart after starting 15th on the grid, with Cryan, Miller, Eric Kocher, and Gullo racing in the top five. Cryan would use the inside of the speedway to take over the lead on lap 25, with Kocher taking over second place.

Jimmy Steffenhagen spun in turn three while running in sixth place to bring out the caution with 21 laps remaining. Cryan and Kocher would take off on the restart, with Cryan showing the way. Brian Hallett would work his way back towards the front of the field, reentering the top five, and eventually would work his way back to third place. Cryan would pull away from Kocher to score a win on his “bucket list”.

“I let it all shake out in front of me and we had to save our stuff for the end, and we did that,” Cryan said in victory lane. “We let one get away in 2019 and I was not letting that happen again,” Cryan continued. Cryan thanked car owners Roy and Patrick Emerling plus all the members of the 09 crew.

Eric Kocher would finish in second place and was followed to the line by Brian Hallett, Bill Frisbee, and Tim Gullo.

Qualifying winners were Bobby Kibler Jr, Garrett Zacharias, Brian Hallett, and Andy Cryan.
