N. Woodstock, NH — Starting off the New Year, White Mountain Motorsports Park officials are excited to introduce a new member of the full-time staff for the 2025 season. Bryon Callen, longtime veteran of Northeast short track racing, has been hired on as Race Director for the upcoming season at New Hampshire’s Favorite Short Track!

Catching the racing bug from his father Bill, Bryon’s first racing memories were growing up in Iowa with Bill working on dirt cars at West Liberty Speedway before moving east and taking his first officiating position at Lee USA Speedway in 1998. Since his start, Callen has been the chief starter in the flag stand at Lee and Connecticut ovals Thompson Speedway and Stafford Speedway while also standing high atop the starter stand for series like the American-Canadian Tour, Pro All Stars Series, the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series, ISMA Supermodifieds and NEMA Midgets.

Callen made the move to the tower at Thompson Speedway over the past several years, crediting the late Tom Curley and current ACT Director of Raceday Operations Scott Tapley with his transition to race directing. “After my dad passed a couple years ago, I honestly don’t know if I’d still be involved today if not for Scott helping me along,” said Callen. Outside of racing, Bryon has been married to his wife Bridget for 17-years, both are the proud parents of Brayden and Brynn, and is an avid athlete, currently training for his third Ironman Triathlon.

“I have been in the right place at the right time on a few occasions that have helped my career in our sport and have said that I don’t deserve most of the opportunities that have come my way,” Callen continued. “Scott and Cris have both been amazing to work for and learn from over the years and I am truly thankful for the continued guidance they both provide. I am really excited for this next chapter in my career and being part of the team at White Mountain Motorsports Park.”

“While Scott (Tapley) will continue with his various roles in the ACT fold, we saw an opportunity to grow Bryon’s role with us after seeing how well he performs at Thompson Speedway,” said WMMP managing partner Cris Michaud. “Securing Bryon as race director is the first exciting step as we continue to solidify the core staff at White Mountain for what is expected to be another great year of growth.”

White Mountain Motorsports Park kicks off the 2025 season with the 33rd Season Opening double header weekend on May 17 and 18.
