(Butler Township, Pa. 5-29-25) To say the third time was the charm, it would be a bit of an understatement for Evergreen Raceway.

During last Saturday’s season opener three rain delays made things challenging to say the least, but a determined track crew, race hungry fans and eager drivers all soldiered through, and the entire program was completed before the 11:00 pm curfew, albeit by just two minutes.

And, although the races did get in, it was unfortunate that as part of the Fan Appreciation Night meet and greet, that was to take place during intermission, never occurred due to all the delays. It was nice to see, though, that some teams did take the time to walk about the grandstand area and hand out goodies.

In an effort to ensure that dedicated fans are adequately recognized, track promoter/owner Jason Makarewicz has decided to make this Sunday the Fan Appreciation event for June 1 afternoon program. As initially planned, all drivers and their cars will be stationed on the front straight during intermission, allowing fans to interact with them. Additionally, he has set the grandstand admission fee at $10.

And hot dogs are just $1 while supplies last.

Plus, the good folks at Pocono Raceway have provided free admission tickets to be handed out for the upcoming Kids Day, on Saturday, June 21. On tap at the “Tricky Triangle” will be practice and qualifying for the NASCAR Cup Series in preparation for the following day’s The Great American Getaway 400 Presented by VISITPA, along with practice, qualifying and the feature race for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Explore the Pocono Mountains 250.

As for this Sunday’s racing the schedule will consist of 602 Crate Modifieds, Late Models, Harry’s U-Pull-It Street Stocks, Himmer Graphics Four Cylinders and the always popular Rotten-and-Forgotten.

Also, the JuiceBox Division has been added.

Pit gates open at 10:30 am and grandstands at noon. Warm-ups will get underway at 12:30 pm with heat races commencing at 2:00 pm.

Pit admission is $40, all ages. Grandstands are $10 and kids 12 and under free.

In other related news Wanick Construction has done an excellent job competing the paving repairs to parts of the front straight area and weather permitting the track will hold an open practice session for karts and Quarter Midgets from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm this Saturday, May 31.

Evergreen Raceway, a 1/3-mile paved oval in St. Johns, Butler Township, Luzerne County, hosts motorsports events from February to November, making it a top entertainment choice in Northeast Pennsylvania.
