LOCAL SPORTS LEAGUE NIGHT SET FOR SATURDAY AT RIVERHEAD RACEWAY FEATURING NASCAR MODIFIEDS & DEMOLITION DERBY

Riverhead Raceway invites all those involved with youth sports across Long Island to come out and enjoy a night at the races celebrating Local Sports League Night with this Saturday May 31st. All kids in their league sports jersey will enjoy free grandstand admission to enjoy a 50-lap NASCAR Modified event and a Demolition Derby among the seven events planned. 

“The ballfields, gyms and rinks are always buzzing with local sports league activities, day and night” John Ellwood, GM of Riverhead Raceway commented, “youth sports are as traditional and popular as grassroots racing, we’re excited to bring the two worlds together for a fun night” The free admission offer is valid only at the general admission entrances of the track, normal pit fees apply for race team members. 

Opening night NASCAR Modified winner Chris Young of Calverton and Mark Stewart of Riverhead, winner of the second event of 2025 on May 17th are both hopeful of becoming the first repeat winner of the new season in Saturday’s 50-lapper. The popular Super Pro Trucks are in action with Sean Glennon of Northport winning the first two contests of the season, Sean hopes to score a hat trick of his own Saturday evening. To date the Street Stocks have recorded two events with the checker flag headed to Calverton after both race with Brian Brown and Jarrod Hayes the two local victors. 

The Mini Stocks are back at it Saturday led by their two 2025 winners, Paul Wojcik of Patchogue and Chris Olivari of Coram. In the 8-Cylinder Enduro ranks Pat Collins of Southampton and Greg Harris of Riverhead have posted victories, both hope for more of the same Saturday. 

The Eddie Partridge Vintage All-Stars make their first appearance of 2025 with a 15-lap feature event. Among the popular driving stars of the LIVARS vintage race cars are Don Howe of Water Mill and Tony Ferrante Jr. of New Hyde Park.

Once all racing is completed it will be time for the first bone jarring, car destroying Demolition Derby of 2025.

Opening ceremonies are set for approximately 6:15 pm Saturday, proceeded by qualifying races. Spectator gates open at 4:00 pm, adults are $30, kids 6-12 $20, 5 & under are free unless eligible for free admission as part of Local Sports League Night promotion. 

When the 2025 schedule was released, four rain dates were added to the slate for use in the event of rain outs prior to the monthly rain date. Sunday June 1st is the first of those rain dates listed, in the event of rain Saturday, the program would move to Sunday June 1st with an itinerary TBA.
