(Butler Township, Pa. 5-3-25) For the second time in as many tries Evergreen Raceway has lost its season opening races to unfavorable weather.
The National Weather Service is calling for showers and possibly a thunderstorm as well as patchy fog with precipitation at 80-90% throughout the day.
With those numbers there was not much choice but to call off the races that were slated for the afternoon.
Opening Day will now be Opening Night as the hopeful start of the season will be on Saturday evening, May 24 at 6:00 pm. It will be Camera & Autograph Night for the classes on hand that will include the 602 Crate Modifieds, Late Models, Harry’s U-Pull-It Street Stocks, Himmer Graphics Four Cylinders and McNulty Funeral Home Novices.
Earlier that same day will be the debut of Little Evergreen Raceway Karting track which will begin racing at 1:00 pm.
Evergreen Raceway, a 1/3-mile paved oval in St. Johns, Butler Township, Luzerne County, hosts motorsports events from February to November, making it a top entertainment choice in Northeast Pennsylvania.
