Skora, Nova, Wylie, Wollaber, And Deyoe Win on Opening Day at Lancaster Motorplex

LANCASTER, N.Y. (May 10, 2025) – Defending divisional champion George Skora III from Eden, NY picked up the win in the Sportsman main event at Lancaster Motorplex on Saturday afternoon. Dustin Nova from Springville, NY won the Street Stock feature event. Scott Wylie from Blasdell, NY won the Late Model feature event. Dave Wollaber from Lockport, NY earned an emotional win in the Mighty TQ Midgets. Chris Deyoe Jr from East Otto, NY won the 4 Cylinder feature. 

George Skora III and Bill Mislin brought the Sportsman to the green flag for their feature event, with Skora taking the early race lead. Andrew Nye would pass Mislin to take over second, with Andy Jankowiak and Tyler Catalano also passing Mislin early on. Following a Chris Ridsdale spin, Skora would continue to show the way with Andy Jankowiak taking over second place. Nye would regain second from Jankowiak at the halfway mark, but Jankowiak would regain the spot just one lap later. Skora and Jankowiak would pull away from the field, as Tony Hanbury challenged Andrew Nye for third place on lap 25. Shawn Nye would work his way through the field and was challenging Tyler Catalano for a top five position on lap 27. 

Eldon King III and Scott Wylie were on the front row for the Late Model feature, with King in the lead ahead of Wylie, Dave Heitzhaus, Jacob Gustafson, and Jake Lutz. Wylie would take over the lead on lap three and would not look back. Wylie would hold off King on a late-race restart to score his first career win at Lancaster in a Late Model. 

Kyle Schosek and Dustin Nova brought the Street Stocks to the green flag for their feature event, with Dustin Nova taking the point. Mark Hoch would take over second followed by Schosek, Nik Welshans, and Dan Dressell. The first caution would come out on lap 12 as Jerry Kosmowski lost a right rear tire on his number 69 in turn two. On the restart, Nova would continue to show the way with Hoch in second, followed by Max Northem, Nik Welshans, and Dave Johnson. Nova would go on for the victory. 

Jacob Schulz and Brendan Wallace led The Mighty TQ Midgets to the green flag for their 20-lap feature event, with Schulz showing the way ahead of Nick Groff and Dave Wollaber. Wollaber would take over the lead as Nick Groff and Schulz made contact in turn three to bring out the caution on lap six. Wollaber would go on to score the win, his 37th of his career at Lancaster. 

Ben Adams and Chris Deyoe Jr brought the 4 Cylinders to the green flag for their 20-lap feature event, with Deyoe in the lead ahead of Ryan Hessler, Adams, Wyatt Hannon, and Hunter McKay. With Deyoe out in front,  Deyoe, Adams, McKay, Hessler, Wyatt Hannon 

Racing continues Saturday, May 17th as the Must-See Racing Sprint Cars will return to Lancaster for their second ever appearance. Joining them will be the Street Stocks, Super Stocks, and the Pro 4’s. Racing will get underway at 6pm.
