WALL, NJ ~ In front of a large grandstand crowd that included many champions and feature winners who were invited for the track’s 75th anniversary celebration, Andrew Krause raced to the win in the 75 lap Modified stock car feature race at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night. The celebration survived several obstacles including rain delays and a temporary lighting failure.

Hazlet’s Anthony Sesely rocketed to the lead at the outset as Manahawkin’s Jake Nelke chased him around the third mile paved oval. Soon Krause advanced to third and studied the top two for several laps.

Krause advanced to second just after lap 20 and set his sights on the leader. Without the benefit of a caution flag, Krause swung his mount to the outside lane and raced into the lead on lap 41. Sesely then continued to chase Krause until lap 50 when young James Blewett of Howell slipped into second. From that point on the impressive Blewett, in just his first season of Modified racing, kept Krause in his sights all the way to the checker flag. Steven Reed of Jackson, who went to the rear of the pack early in the contest, recovered for an impressive third, while Brick’s Eddie McCarthy and Sesely were fourth and fifth.

“It is a great accomplishment to win this race on the anniversary celebration,” Krause said. “I know it is so hard to keep a business going for a couple of years, let alone 75. A lot of people made his anniversary possible and a lot of people love this place.”

Tyler Truex of mayetta hitched a ride in the Hartwig Racing No. 73 and raced to the win in the companion 25 lapper for the Sportsman cars over Howell’s Kevin Davison who chased him most of the way. Chris Silvestri of Hazlet was third, while Averi Arthofer and Sean Vuksanic were fourth and fifth.

Alex Rogers of Forked River led most of the the 25 lapper for the Factory Stocks before Shanon Mongeau of Island Heights tracked him down on lap 21 to take the win. Brian Osborn and Rob Anderton, both of Howell, the impressive Rogers and Jared Okerson wrapped up the top five.

Mike Alcaro of West Milford took the lead at the half way point and raced on to win the Legend Cars 25 lapper, the 53rd of his career. Justin Emmons, Justin Teresczak, Chris Sinatro, and Tyler Pappas completed the top five.

It was a great night to be brothers in the Fast 4 division as Doug and Ian Ashford, both of Jackson, were first and second in the 25-lapper and Kevin and Cory Carr were third and fourth. Eric Mancini was fifth.

Wall Stadium will return to action on Saturday night, July 26. The Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Fast 4s, Legend Cars, Limited Late Models and TQ Midgets will all be in action during Christmas in July festivities. Qualifying is at 5:00 p.m. with main events starting at 7:00 p.m.
