(Tioga Center, NY 7-20-25) In just one week’s time Shangri-La II Speedway in Tioga Center, NY will be presenting the much-anticipated return of Tour Type Modifieds.
The “Thunder on the Hill 50” will see some of the best pavement Modified specialist in the region converging on the high-banked 1/2-mile concrete oval on Sunday afternoon, July 27.

As Sunday’s race nears the entries continue to come in from drivers from throughout New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and all indications are a great field of Modifieds will be on hand for this exciting feature.
“We have been fielding a lot of calls about the Tour Type Modifieds racing on July 27 and we’ve already received conformation from a good number of drivers who are coming out for this one and are posted on our Facebook page,” said track promoter Jason Makarewicz.
“It’s been 10 years since the Tour Type Modifieds have raced here and after seeing how good and how exciting the Sportsman Mods did in our first two shows, it tells us we’re in for something special for this next one.”
Time trials will be done for Modified qualifying and then a redraw for the feature line-up.
“We thought about this and came to the conclusion that running time trials will be best plus we’re going to be presenting a $200 bonus to the top timer courtesy of Morgantini Racing,” said Makarewicz.
Along with the Modifieds there will be a great line-up of support classes including Super Stocks, Four Cylinder Stocks and Hobby Stocks and throughout the generosity of several dedicated businesses, additional money is being offered too.
Adding into the respective purses being offered by the track are Fixing Finger Lakes Foundations LLC of West Danby, NY who has added to the Super Stock purse which will see the winner collect $1000. Fixing Finger Lakes Foundations is run by Super Stock racer Bill Frisbie Jr.
The Four Cylinders will be racing for $500-to-win thanks to Himmer Graphics of Lake Ariel, Pa. Himmer Graphics is headed by pavement racing specialist Scott Adams.
The Hobby Stocks are also racing for a $450 top prize with additional money throughout the field which is courtesy of Double Ought Performance Horses LLC of Owego, NY.
“I can’t thank all those folks enough for stepping up with our support classes. They have put on some thrilling races, and this is so nice to be able to offer those drivers some extra cash for the outstanding racing they’ve out on,” added Makarewicz.
On Saturday, July 26, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm an open practice session will be held. Pit admission for open practice is $25 per person and grandstands are free.
Afterwards there will be a pit party hosted by the track that includes live music by the band Audio Active.
“We really want to see folks come out for the practice which is free grandstand admission and then stick around for the pit party,” said Makarewicz.
Sunday pit admission is $45, for all ages. Adult grandstand admission is $20, kids 12 and under are free. Pits open at 10:00 am, racing begins at 1:00 pm. Grandstands open at 11:00 am.
