Thompson, CT — With the dust settled on a successful Icebreaker weekend at Thompson Speedway, officials with the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) and the American Canadian Tour (ACT) have announced the May 13 Thompson Mods Race will pay $5000 to win and $500 to start! Keith Rocco secured a pair of thrilling victories over Todd Owen at the Icebreaker in races that had many fans calling it the best racing of the weekend.
“After adding the Loyalty program for 2026, we still wanted to add in another big money race,” said co-promoter Tom Mayberry. “We think the Thompson Mods are putting on some excellent racing, and we want to keep growing this division.”
Thompson Mods waged some epic battles throughout the 52nd Icebreaker weekend. The 30-lap event on Saturday was roundly praised as the “race of the weekend” with four drivers swapping spots multiple times throughout the contest. Keith Rocco prevailed over Todd Owen and Jon Puelo. Danny Cates and Chase Cook rounded out the top five.
Thompson Mods are also participating in a Loyalty program that was announced late in 2025 for the 2026 season. The Loyalty program pays bonuses to drivers committed to and racing in each of the nine races. Drivers who compete in three consecutive races will be eligible for a bonus program that would then pay the winner $4000 to win and significantly increase the purse for each finishing position back to $500 for 10th on back.
“We really wanted to make sure these teams had a good purse to race with us all year. Providing a loyalty bonus is a way for us to reward the drivers who make every show,” said Mayberry.
The final element to the Loyalty bonus is a special NON-WINNERS bonus. The top three drivers who have not won a race in 2026 and are on the Loyalty Plan will be eligible for an additional bonus’ of $300, $200, and $100 to paid out at the next event.
Officials with PASS and ACT also announced the May 13 event will feature a $1000 to win purse with extra money throughout the field down to $200 to start for the SK Light Modifieds. SK Lights have grown into a highly competitive modified class for the budget-minded racer. Featuring the more affordable 602 crate engine and a stricter set of rules, the division has been used as a steppingstone for drivers to learn modified racing before moving up to a higher-level.
Thompson Speedway began its 86th year of racing on April 10-12 with the 52nd running of “The Icebreaker.” The season will conclude on October 10-12 with the 64th World Series of Racing.
